Introducing a signature snare drum from YOSHIKI, drummer of the legendary worldwide rock band X JAPAN! This YOSHIKI signature model is based on the KSS146 Spartan snare drum, part of the TAMA Warlord Collection, released in 2007. YOSHIKI's signature model, based on the KSS146 Spartan snare drum, was inspired by his personal desire to use a silver-finish metal snare drum that complements his signature "crystal drum set." He has been using this KSS146 model since his 2010 North American tour. This signature model shares the same basic specifications as the Spartan, delivering an aggressive, powerful sound that cuts through even the loudest band sounds, while retaining the same dazzling exterior that perfectly matches YOSHIKI's image. The inside of the shell also includes an inside sticker autographed by YOSHIKI himself.
Aggressive sound - 1.0mm thick stainless steel shell with RSE (Resonant Sound Edge)
The shell is made of stainless steel, which is more rigid than the steel commonly used in metal-shell snare drums, and features TAMA's original RSE (Resonant Sound Edge), a modern version of the double-flanged edge commonly found on vintage snares. It features a sound that combines powerful volume with a sharp attack. It also boasts a refreshing sound projection when hitting rim shots.
What is RSE (Resonant Sound Edge)?
This original edge is a modern take on the double-flanged edge found on vintage snare drums from the 1920s. The edge is folded inward and welded to the inside of the shell, creating a space around the edge. By adopting this edge and increasing the shell's rigidity, we have achieved a mellow, full-bodied resonance, almost like that of a wood shell, while maintaining the tight, solid sound of a metal shell.
This signature snare drum features TAMA's original Warlord lug and emblem, which incorporates internationally renowned Swarovski crystals into its design, thanks to their unique manufacturing and cutting techniques. A clear crystal with a translucent shine is placed at the center, creating a striking design with a clear, straight-line motif.
What is Swarovski crystal?
Swarovski is a leading Austrian crystal glass manufacturer founded in 1895. Swarovski crystal glass contains a high amount of lead oxide, which is famous for its unique sparkle. It is considered the world's finest crystal glass, and has long been used in chandelier parts at the Palace of Versailles and opera houses, and in more recent years has been used in accessories such as rhinestones, beads, pendant tops, and buttons.
This snare drum features a Warlord emblem with Swarovski crystals, as well as a special emblem plate with the X JAPAN logo and YOSHIKI's signature attached to the outside of the shell. Additionally, an inside sticker signed by YOSHIKI himself is attached to the inside of the shell as proof that it is a signature model.
