Sago's new classic JM Bass model! This custom-made 5-string active bass is now in stock!
The Classic Style Series is a collection of models created by Sago based on traditional and orthodox guitar and bass styles, such as JB and PB types.
While maintaining the traditional JM-type body design, the horn has been slightly extended to improve balance when held with a strap, and the cutaway has been widened to allow for smoother access to the higher positions, improving playability. The pickup cover for the 4-string type uses the JM-type cover as is, and the 5-string type has a similar design.
The custom-order model by Tamura of Spitz and the custom model by Derassan of Hanbredders also have a similar shape and are very popular among musicians.
The body is made of a traditional combination of alder, hard maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard, and is equipped with two Lx JM Bass pickups with a split structure similar to the P-type, and Sago's original preamp, the SPAEQ-TB. The control knobs are ST-type hat knobs, and although the words Volume/Tone are written on the top of the knobs, they are Master Vol, Balancer, Treble, and Bass.
Weighing just 4.15kg for a 5-string guitar, it delivers a powerful split-push sound in passive mode, while the original active circuitry is powerful yet features a user-friendly variable curve even at full tension, creating a modern sound that's perfectly suited to rock music with a punchy, fast-paced feel. The lightweight tuning machines and small head provide excellent balance when playing standing up, making it easy to handle on stage.
The color is a deep, popular Wald Green from Sago's lineup, finished with a very thin lacquer finish. The gold parts, black pickguard, PU covers, and knobs are also all black, creating a refined, luxurious look. Furthermore, the instrument has been given a realistic aging treatment by a skilled craftsman with experience working in a renowned Japanese workshop and in relic work at F Custom Shop, allowing the natural resonance of the wood to permeate the entire instrument.
While Sago is a popular brand with many professional users, it also has a strong image as a fully customizable brand, and few music stores stock it. However, our shop carries a wide range of products, including the "Sago" brand, as well as "Stem," a Japanese-made brand with reduced options and manufacturing costs that makes it affordable, and the student brand "Seed," which offers a lineup of artist models.
