Alongside the RG series, the S series is a flagship Ibanez guitar line. It features a body with a gently arched top and back, molded to be extremely thin. Like the RG series, it has been a beloved instrument for many guitarists on stage since its creation in 1987.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ikebe Musical Instruments, we had a truly wonderful model made for us!
☆Maple / Walnut / Bubinga 7-piece through-neck (AT shape)☆
Probably the first ever neck-through construction in the S series!!
The neck, constructed from seven pieces of maple, walnut, and bubinga, features a neck-through construction, using the same material from the headstock to the body end.
Because through-neck construction requires much longer pieces of wood compared to a regular neck, and considering the cost, fewer guitars using this technique have been made recently. However, this particular guitar was specially produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ikebe Musical Instruments.
The neck shape is the AT shape, which is one of the thicker neck shapes in Ibanez's solid-body lineup.
By adopting a neck-through construction and finishing it with a thick AT shape, it achieves an extremely rich midrange and sustain despite the thin body shape that is a characteristic of the S series.
☆22 frets, ebony fingerboard☆
Following the example of the JCS1 and Classical S models, it features 22 frets. (All current S series models have 24 frets.)
Furthermore, the use of high-quality ebony for the fretboard contributes to a sound with a moderately fast attack.
The frets are made of Jescar FW57110S, which has an appropriate width and height, and the fret edges are custom spherically shaped, which is essential for a smooth playing feel.
The inlay on the fretboard is the "Tree of Life" inlay, a staple of the J-Custom series, and is made of two types of shell: abalone and mother-of-pearl.
Combined with the jet-black ebony fretboard, it has a truly beautiful finish.
☆Quilted maple top / African mahogany body wings☆
The S-shaped curved body features a smoothly arched top and back, with the sides molded to be extremely thin.
The body features a neck-through construction with wings on both sides combining beautifully figured quilted maple and African mahogany, resulting in the extremely slim finish unique to the S series.
☆DiMarzio Pickup☆
It features DiMarzio pickups in a zebra/cream color.
Front: DiMarzio Air Norton Zebra Color
Center: DiMarzio Area 67 Cream Color
Rear; DiMarzio Air Zone Zebra Color
☆Edge Tremolo Bridge☆
Featuring a knife-edge pivot structure and a plug-in arm, the Ibanez original tremolo bridge "Edge" has been a favorite of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai for over 20 years.
We deliberately omitted the zero-point system, prioritizing smooth operation and a natural, resonant sound.
☆Other☆
The headstock also uses quilted maple, just like the body top.
The Ibanez logo is made of mother-of-pearl.
Due to wood availability and other factors, only six of these rare models will be produced.
