Pat Metheny's new signature model is packed with his desire for many players to pick it up, and with meticulous attention to detail from its looks to its sound!
The guitar features classic designs favored by Pat, including the headstock shape, fretboard inlays, tailpiece, control knobs, and body color, demonstrating a strong emphasis on aesthetics.
• Spruce top / Maple back & sides body. The spruce top is made of spruce wood, which is also used in violins and acoustic guitars, and is characterized by its excellent vibration transmission and natural tone without any unwanted characteristics.
Maple wood, known for its crisp and clear tone, is used for the back and sides.
Furthermore, a very thin, open-pore paint finish is applied, resulting in a vintage-like texture. (*)
・Nyatoh wood / Maple wood 3-piece neck
• Ebony fingerboard: Features an ebony fingerboard, known for its quick attack and rich sustain.
• Artstar Fret Edge Treatment: The fret edges are spherically shaped to reduce stress during fingering, resulting in a superior playing feel.
- With minimal coloration and a natural tone, it uses a bone nut, a standard choice for hollow guitars.
The Gibraltar Performer is a zinc bridge with the front and rear adjustment screws for the bridge saddles located on the tailpiece side.
By adopting a design that allows you to insert the screwdriver from the tailpiece side, it is now easier to adjust the saddle's fore-aft position.
• PM Special Single-Coil Pickups: These Ibanez pickups were developed through extensive discussions and numerous prototypes with Pat, perfectly reflecting his preferences.
The bass is not boomy, making it easy to add picking nuances, and it features a crisp, bright tone characteristic of single-coil pickups.
Furthermore, Pat's attention to detail is evident in the classic style of mounting the pickup body on a large metal plate and then suspending the metal plate from the body with three screws to secure the pickup.
(*Note regarding appearance) Due to the extremely thin open-pore finish, there may be some unevenness in the wood and binding. These are quality standards approved by Ibanez and the artist themselves. Please be aware of this in advance.
*The image is a sample. Due to the nature of the product, the wood grain and color will vary from one item to another.
