Ortofon Concorde MKII ELITE [High-quality DJ cartridge with integrated headshell] (Ortofon)

★The Ortofon Concorde series boasts a beautifully elegant form. The Concorde MkII Elite is the new flagship model that best represents this distinctive series.★

With a history spanning over 40 years since its inception in 1979, the Concorde series continues to captivate many record fans, and in 2018, coinciding with Ortofon's 100th anniversary, it was reborn as the MkII series.

Five models were announced for the MkII series, intended to represent the next 100 years, but simultaneously with their completion, Ortofon had already begun envisioning something even further ahead—the ultimate Concorde. During development at their headquarters in Denmark, the basic concept was decided to aim for a new pinnacle that had never been reached with previous DJ cartridges, requiring high-level specifications that at first glance seemed almost impossible to achieve: powerful yet high resolution, an extremely wide dynamic range, and high tracking ability.

■Aluminum-Magnesium Alloy Cantilever Developed Exclusively for Elite The first thing worth mentioning is the cantilever made of a newly developed, hard aluminum-magnesium alloy, exclusively for Elite. This alloy, which is lightweight yet boasts high rigidity, not only dramatically elevates the level of DJ performance but is also an extremely ideal material for high-quality music playback.

■ Solid diamond oval hand
The Elite is the first cartridge used for DJing to employ a solid diamond elliptical stylus. While diamond styluses are typically favored by Hi-Fi audiophiles seeking high fidelity and superior sound quality, the Elite was developed as the flagship of the Concorde series, transcending the boundaries between DJ and Hi-Fi. The use of a solid diamond stylus reduces the moving mass compared to conventional DJ styluses, allowing for clearer and more precise tracing of the record's grooves.

■ Generating coil that produces a powerful tone
The Elite boasts a high output voltage of 8.5mV, made possible by Ortofon's highly precise and efficient coil system, which they have been researching for over half a century. The audio signal picked up from the groove by the solid diamond elliptical stylus is transmitted by a dedicated aluminum-magnesium alloy cantilever, and the magnet operates to generate electricity, resulting in a powerful sound.

■Newly Formulated Rubber Damper A newly formulated rubber damper has been developed to match the characteristics of the Elite, which employs a newly developed cantilever and a solid diamond elliptical stylus. Developing a damper specifically for the Elite that maintains optimal elasticity is a testament to Ortofon's dedication to this cartridge. The clear sound that surpasses conventional expectations is supported by this damper.
