Description
Description
The SD Curlee is a legendary instrument that evokes the late 1970s with its combination body of walnut, mahogany, and maple, and its unique bolt-on construction delivers breathtaking sustain. With its original look born from the dedication of woodworkers, it conveys the passion of the 1970s hard rock scene to this day. Its rugged yet precise craftsmanship and direct sound make it a one-of-a-kind instrument that continues to captivate players who pursue individuality across generations.
This time, we have the "Standard II" model in stock. It's a classic and easy-to-use guitar with a double-cutaway body and two humbucker pickups.
【body】
The total weight is approximately 3.85 kg. The body is made of mahogany. It features a relatively orthodox and timeless double-cutaway body shape, and a distinctive neck that extends boldly towards the center. It has a natural finish that brings out the beauty of the wood. It exudes the aura of a vintage guitar with weather checking commensurate with its age, paint chipping from picking and belt buckles, tarnishing of brass parts, and signs of use on plastic parts. There is a trace of an added strap pin near the joint heel.
【neck】
The neck is made of 3-piece maple. The stylish fingerboard, where the 3-piece joint is visible, is lovely. The bolt-on construction, with the joint extending almost to the center of the body, provides excellent sustain. There are signs of use such as weather checking, dents, paint peeling, and tarnishing of the metal parts, commensurate with its age, and like the body, it is in good condition with a nice atmosphere. The tuners have some slight inconsistency in winding, but they function properly. There is some wear on the frets and nut, but there are no extreme buzzing issues and playability is good. The nut width is 44.3mm. It is wide, but can be said to have a relatively clean neck shape.
[Electrical System]
The controls consist of a 3-way pickup selector, front pickup volume, rear pickup volume, and master tone. The guitar comes standard with a DiMarzio DP-103 PAF pickup in the neck position and a DP-100 Super Distortion pickup in the bridge position. The control components, including the pickups, are in their original condition.
The front pickup delivers a thick, warm, vintage PAF-style sound with just the right amount of compression and a glossy midrange. The rear pickup boasts a rich midrange and powerful output, allowing you to enjoy a strong, punchy sound from robust hard rock riffs to soaring leads. It pairs exceptionally well with amplifiers that have a thick, distorted sound; the clear attack from the bolt-on construction combined with the rich resonance of the mahogany body creates a direct, core tone. This is a guitar that lets you enjoy a dynamic rock sound.
