Description
"The Eagle" was born as a new challenge that embodies that philosophy!
"The Eagle" was completed by the apprentices who inherited the philosophy of master builder Yasuo Momose. Momose himself had high expectations for this model during his lifetime.
And another thing is Headway's recent focus on "Japanese" guitar making, which is unique to Japanese guitar manufacturers.
Among these, there is a special type of paint called "urushi" (lacquer) that can only be produced once a year, during the summer.
The lacquer finish deepens in beauty and character with use, becoming a part of the owner's life for decades. The allure of this aging process, combined with The Eagle's philosophy of "a guitar that grows with you," has resulted in the birth of a new instrument.
The body top is made of Sitka spruce, a classic choice for acoustic guitars, and its balanced harmonics and responsiveness make it suitable for any situation, resulting in a sound that can be enjoyed for many years.
The sides and back are made of "Indian rosewood," which is moderately hard and has good rebound. The characteristic low and high tones of rosewood create the foundation of the sound, and the collaboration between The Eagle's sound and lacquer produces a resonance that feels direct and maximizes the sound's potential.
Lacquer coatings have an extremely thin film, consisting of a thickness of about 0.05 mm. While this number alone might raise concerns about its strength, it adheres more firmly to the wood than solvent-based paints, resulting in a very rigid finish. It also has excellent preservative, waterproofing, and insect-repellent properties, and it is said that "lacquer finishes reach their peak beauty after several decades," offering the pleasure of using and appreciating it over a long period of time, just like lacquered furniture.
You can directly experience a natural sound that can be called the "raw sound of lacquer," which preserves the inherent freshness of the wood. While you can experience changes in sound quality due to the beautiful finish and the way the material blends with conventional solvent-based paints, lacquer painting is a unique technique that allows you to feel these effects in a more natural way.
Founded in 1977, Headway, with a history spanning over 45 years, released "A Completely New Headway" in 2023, entrusting its aspirations to soar into a new era.
While retaining the style of Headway's flagship model "HD-115," this model features a completely revised set of specifications and features, and was jointly developed from scratch by the craftsmen of Aska Team Build in collaboration with Headway founder Yasuo Momose.
Its name is The Eagle.
The design has been refined based on the "Eagle" motif, which has been featured as a trademark on previous Headway models.
Inspired by the eagle, the king of the skies, the Headway logo on the headstock features a new design resembling a crown.
Momose himself has a special feeling for "The Eagle," which has been reconstructed by his beloved apprentices, whom he has nurtured throughout his life as a craftsman.
[New bracing that signals a new beginning]
Based on the standard bracing used by Momose when Headway was founded, custom builders Yasui and Furihata have incorporated modern arrangements and redesigned it, resulting in the first-ever adoption of the "Mid Point Shifted X Bracing." In addition, the "Shallow Scalloped" specification, which features shallower bracing than usual, has previously only been used in Momose's Custom Shop models, but has now been incorporated into The Eagle for the first time. The sound boasts a well-balanced tone with clear, articulate notes combined with a resonant bass, all enveloped in harmonics. While retaining the established Headway sound, it also suggests new possibilities for Headway.
[Crown logo & headstock inlay]
The brand logo is inspired by the Eagle, the king of the skies, and features the 'Headway Crown Logo' design, which symbolizes a crown.
Headway has rebuilt its "Eagle," which has been used as a symbolic motif since its founding. It captures a scene of an eagle spreading its wings and soaring through the sky, symbolizing flight into a new era.
[Fretboard Inlays]
The fretboard features a design depicting eagle feathers fluttering about. Eagle feathers are said to guide the path forward and play a role in propelling you into the future, and this design represents our wish for a new beginning for Headway and for everyone who owns this series.
