Description
Description
During the event, our products will be on display and for sale on the first floor of Ikebukuro.
Ovation is well-known for its acoustic-electric guitars with bowl-shaped body backs, but in the 1970s, it also produced distinctive solid-body models such as the Breadwinner, Deacon, Viper, Preacher, and Magnum Bass.
The Magnum Bass series is available in four versions: Version 1 is a single-cutaway body with passive pickups, Version 2 has the same features as Version 1 but with a graphic equalizer, Version 3 has a double-cutaway body shape with passive pickups, and Version 4 also has the same features as Version 3 but with a graphic equalizer.
This Magnum bass that we have in stock has been modified to a passive specification by removing the graphic equalizer from the Version 4.
【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.4kg. The body is made of high-quality mahogany. It has a double-cutaway body and a detachable neck, and the subdued coloring that brings out the natural color of the mahogany is nice. The graphic equalizer has been removed and the pickguard has been replaced. There are some minor dents, traces of the strap pin being moved on the back, a loose control knob plate, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but it can be said to be in relatively good condition. The retaining screw for the front pickup ring has been replaced.
【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany, and the fingerboard is made of ebony. There is some paint lifting on the back of the neck, but it is in relatively good condition. The tuners function well with little variation in winding. The frets and nut show only slight wear, and playability is good. The nut width is 41.8mm. It features a sturdy neck shape.
[Electrical System]
It has now been converted to a passive configuration, and the controls consist of a 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls. The front pickup is the type where the output of each string can be individually adjusted using a semi-fixed resistor, and the rear pickup is the type where the coils for strings 1-2 and strings 3-4 are split to cancel hum. As mentioned above, the graphic equalizer has been removed and it has been modified to a passive configuration, and the potentiometers, capacitors, switch, and output jack have been replaced with new ones, making it easy to use.
