FAQ

Description

Since its release in 1960, the Jazz Bass has been a flagship model for Fender, alongside the Precision Bass, and continues to influence the music scene. Numerous variations and reissue models have been produced by the original manufacturer, as well as inspired models by it from other companies, solidifying its position as a standard model for electric basses.

This particular guitar was produced around the first half of 1964. As you can see, it has a wonderful, well-worn look.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.0 kg. The body is made of alder. Both sides of the body are painted in a vibrant 3-tone sunburst color with a hint of red. Weather checking, heavy paint peeling on the body sides, elbow contour and back, gouges in the wood from the finger rest next to the pickup, dents, and slight tarnishing of the parts are visible, giving it a wonderful vintage instrument feel, while the paint finish is in good condition. All metal covers are included.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple, and the fingerboard is, of course, made of superb rosewood. The smooth texture due to the paint peeling on the back of the neck is characteristic of vintage instruments. There is some slight peeling of the headstock decal logo, a few scratches around the headstock, dents on the fingerboard surface next to the 15th and 17th frets, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in relatively clean condition with a nice atmosphere. The tuners are fully functional, although there is some slight variation in the tightness of the winding. The frets and nut are original parts from the time of manufacture, and although there is some wear and slight high-frequency bowing, there are no extreme issues such as dead spots. The headstock thickness is 15.1mm, and the nut width is 38.0mm. It features the narrow width and relatively clean neck shape characteristic of an A-neck.

[Electrical System]
The controls are a standard Jazz Bass wiring configuration [2 volume/1 tone]. The pickups have gray bobbins, and there are signs that the solder on the pickups and potentiometers has been removed, but the internal control components are all original and intact.

The overall impression is that, aided by the aging of the pickups, it has a clear, well-balanced, and elegant tone, yet with a distinctive midrange. While somewhat subdued, it still retains the warm low-mids and rich harmonics characteristic of the pre-CBS era. The neck position delivers a warm, fat bass, while the bridge position provides a tight, well-defined midrange with sustain. While its stunning looks tend to grab attention, this guitar is also appealing in terms of its sound.
