Description
A highly recommended used '59 Les Paul, the top-of-the-line model and most popular in the Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection! This one is from 2011. It features a stunning fiddleback maple top with exceptional grain, aged by master craftsman Tom Murphy!
Excluding the Lightly Aged and House Aged styles, Tom Murphy was in charge of the regular aged finishes during this period! The Lemmon Burst is an incredibly cool piece!
A recommended used Historic Collection 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue Murphy Aged has arrived!
This is a 2011 model, part of a refinement project that began in 2009 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1959 Les Paul. This refinement project continued until 2012.
I recall that the refinements made at the time, such as the adoption of a non-wire bridge, the relationship between the tailpiece and controls, the position of the rear pickup and the size of the pickguard in relation to it, the use of slotted screws for the pickguard stays, and the change in the material of the nut, all demonstrate the depth of Gibson Custom Shop's pursuit of perfection!
In 2013, further refinements were made, including the adoption of Custom Bucker pickups, a tubeless truss rod, and the use of hide glue for the neck joint, all of which are still carried over to the present day.
What's particularly noteworthy is the incredibly realistic wood grain, so lifelike it could easily be mistaken for the real thing, and the aged finish applied by master craftsman Tom Murphy throughout, giving it a dignified presence that suggests it has stood the test of time. The original, aura-filled, and remarkably realistic wood grain is simply breathtaking!
The pickups are the classic Burstbucker type1 (R) & type2 (T) combination, which was in use from 2003 to 2012! The comfortable vintage tone that defined an era of Les Paul sound is irresistible! It's a great combination that gives you a sense of security when you play it!
A masculine tone with a biting, responsive feel that follows your picking! The sharp bridge pickup, the clear neck pickup, and the exquisite half-tone created by the interplay of the two are superb! From backing to lead, it completely takes control, and its touch makes playing a joy for whoever picks it up—it's a supreme masterpiece that even surpasses history!
We've just received a recommended used item!
As this guitar has been aged, we cannot determine if there are any scratches, dents, cracks, or paint peeling that occurred later. However, this particular guitar has several scratches, dents, and pick scratches on the pickguard, which may be later acquired. Nevertheless, none of these affect the playability.
The guitar shows signs of age-related paint fading and clouding, reddish discoloration and paint cracks on the binding, and some stand burn marks on the headstock neck, which we suspect occurred later. However, none of these affect playability. We have performed a full maintenance and cleaning at our shop, so it is ready to use immediately! There are internal cracks in the front volume and tone knobs, and the rear volume knob, but these do not affect its current functionality.
The frets have been leveled and are ready to use. Approximately 85% of the fret life remains.
The nuts are in good working order and function normally. The truss rods also function correctly for normal adjustments.
The weight is approximately 4.01 kg, which is balanced to produce a solid, resonant sound.
Accessories include the original brown hard case, keys, Pre-Pack Checklist, Bumblebee tag, and serial number tag.
Don't miss out on these recommended used items that are sure to resonate with you!
