Description
The Roland SDE-3000 is a legendary digital delay pedal that combines clarity with musical warmth. Combined with its modulation effect that adds a pleasant wavering and spaciousness, it has captivated many people since its introduction in 1983. The SDE-3 condenses that "vintage digital delay sound" into a compact pedal, making it easy to incorporate into your pedalboard. In addition, it is equipped with a new OFFSET function that brings a three-dimensional sound image and rhythm that cannot be obtained with a single delay pedal, enabling sound creation that goes beyond the limits of a compact pedal.
-A unique and unparalleled sound condensed into one piece-
The Roland SDE-3000 is a digital delay pedal that debuted in 1983. Its sound possesses a unique character not found in modern digital delays, thanks to the numerous analog components used in its circuitry. The clear yet warm delay sound is created by a combination of various elements, including the subtle frequency response changes added in the head amplifier section, the distortion caused by magnetic saturation in the low-pass filter section, and the LFO modulation formed by a distinctive triangular wave. The SDE-3 condenses this highly acclaimed "vintage digital delay sound" into a compact pedal enclosure. You can easily incorporate this unique sound, which has not faded even after more than 40 years, into your pedalboard.
-Compact yet profound sound creation-
The SDE-3 lets you freely manipulate its unique sound. Despite being a compact pedal, it features a full range of parameter knobs. The upper of the dual-axis knobs allows you to adjust the basic delay pedal settings: LEVEL, FEEDBACK, and TIME. The modulation effect, which follows the characteristics of the original, can be finely controlled with independent DEPTH and RATE controls. The HI CUT knob allows you to make the delay sound blend more into the ensemble or enhance the lo-fi impression. From classic tones that symbolize the 80s to nostalgic chill sounds, enjoy the world of sound that only the SDE-3 can produce.
-Magic OFFSET-
What sets the SDE-3 apart isn't just its vintage digital delay sound. The OFFSET function allows for unique sound shaping with simple knob adjustments. By adding another delay sound to the main delay, it achieves sounds that are impossible to create with a single delay pedal, stimulating the guitarist's inspiration.
■ Creates a three-dimensional space
Setting the OFFSET to a range of 1-100ms adds a second delay sound that is slightly out of sync with the main delay sound. For example, with the TIME knob set to 300ms and the OFFSET knob to 50ms, two delay sounds will be generated at 300ms and 350ms. This creates a doubling effect, allowing you to enjoy a delay sound with more depth. The modulation effect of the SDE-3 also becomes bolder and more beautiful.
■ Repeat rhythmically
The OFFSET knob also supports settings for dotted eighth notes and eighth notes. If the TIME knob is set to 400ms and the OFFSET knob is set to a dotted eighth note, the other delay will play at 300ms. By mixing delays at different timings, it is possible to create accented and rhythmic delay sounds. Furthermore, the delay time changes continuously even with settings between dotted eighth notes and eighth notes, allowing for the construction of more complex rhythms.
■ Enjoy a variety of sound fields with stereo output.
The SDE-3 features stereo input and output. The OFFSET function allows for different sound fields in mono and stereo. In stereo connection, in addition to a wide stereo output, it's also possible to set up panning delay, alternating between the two outputs. Furthermore, it offers high versatility, allowing for independent output of wet sound from OUTPUT A and dry sound from OUTPUT B, or even completely muting the dry sound.
-Functionality suited to modern times-
The SDE-3 incorporates many of the convenient features expected of a modern delay pedal. Pressing and holding the pedal allows you to set the delay time using tap tempo. It also supports expanded control; connecting an external footswitch enables a HOLD function that sustains the delay sound for a certain period. You can even play solo phrases along with the sustained sound. The expression pedal allows for real-time parameter control, expanding performance possibilities such as assigning FEEDBACK to make the delay sound oscillate.
