Description
Univox was a musical instrument brand owned by the American company Unicord, which was established in the 1960s. It is a well-known fact that guitars were manufactured by companies such as Matsumoku Industries.

This is a Univox brand LP copy model, the "U1982," a rare export model. Based on the pickups and brand logo, it appears to be a piece from around 1970.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.55 kg. The "U1982" shows signs of wear commensurate with its age, including scratches, dents, paint damage, tarnishing of metal parts, and cracks and repairs to the pickup rings. The pickguard bracket's cap nut is missing, and the neck (front) position pickup ring and control knob have been replaced. The bridge has a deep groove in the 1st string saddle.

【neck】
The neck is detachable (bolt-on), a common feature on Japanese-made LP copies up until the 1970s. The tuners have some inconsistency and play in the winding, making them slightly loose. The nut and frets are quite worn, and the nut grooves are particularly deep, making it unsuitable for tight tuning. If you require a tight tuning, we recommend replacing the nut. There is currently no extreme buzzing or dead spots. The nut width is approximately 43.7mm. It features a very sleek neck shape.

[Electrical System]
The controls are simple: 2 volume, 2 tone, and a 3-way pickup selector switch. The control layout differs from the original. It has two blade-type original humbuckers mounted, but as mentioned above, the neck (front) position pickup has been replaced, and consequently, it has been changed to a direct-mount specification that attaches directly to the body. The height can be adjusted as there is a spring installed under the set screw.
