This model employs the same hybrid shell structure as the top-of-the-line PHX Series. It offers a high level of expressiveness that meets the drummer's individual needs. Absolute Hybrid Maple delivers the bright, warm sound of maple with a deep bass response!
The Absolute Hybrid Maple drums are designed to maximize the expression of the sound players desire. They feature the same hybrid shell construction as the top-of-the-line PHX Series. By using maple as the primary shell material and wenge as the core, they deliver rich overtones and a wide range of tonal range not previously possible with maple-shell drums. Their well-defined sound, capable of expressing everything from taps to full strokes, pianissimo to fortissimo, offers excellent adaptability and playability for a wide range of musical genres. Ten finishes are available, including the traditional Vintage Natural finish, the unique Sparkle finish, and newly added colors. This drum series allows players to express their individuality in both sound and appearance, satisfying the needs of every drummer.
1. Powerful and sensitive sound thanks to the "hybrid shell structure" By adopting the same "hybrid shell structure" as the top-of-the-line "PHX Series," we have pursued outstanding wide range and sound response. The shell structure is made up of a core made of "wenge," a hard and heavy wood from Africa, sandwiched on both sides by "maple."
The floor tom/tom-toms feature a 7-ply construction (3-ply maple, 1-ply wenge, and 3-ply maple) with a 45°/R1.5 bearing edge for a deep, bassy sound. The bass drum, meanwhile, uses a similar 7-ply construction but with different plies of different thicknesses and a 30°/R1.5 bearing edge for optimal sound balance across the entire drum set.
While retaining the bright, warm, and clear sound that maple is known for, the wenge core adds a powerful, core-like sound and a solid mid-low range, resulting in a clear, attacking sound, quick attack, rich sustain, and a deep bass. This creates a richly expressive drum set that combines the unique qualities of maple with a unique sound that maple alone cannot offer.
2. Hardware that maximizes the shell's potential: To maximize the inherent sound of the shell thanks to the "hybrid shell structure," we used the optimal hardware. The bass drum's tom holder base features a lightweight design that minimizes its footprint relative to the shell, preserving the bass drum's resonance to the fullest. The floor tom bracket is an open type, allowing for height adjustment and optimal control of reverberation.
The floor tom and tom-toms feature 3.0mm die-cast aluminum hoops, and all shells feature the same hook lugs found in the PHX Series. By minimizing the lug contact area, the shells' resonance is maximized, achieving both high-level sound quality and tuning accuracy, while also allowing for quick head changes.
Furthermore, the newly designed tom mount "YESSIII" has been adopted, which reduces the resonant frequency by 5% by using fewer metal parts compared to the conventional YESSII, improving the resonance of the tom-tom shells.
