Description
Description
Like the 5-string model, the Bongo features a standard 34-inch scale, 17.5mm string spacing, and 24 frets covering two octaves. The neck width of the 6-string bass allows for smooth string movement without strain. The smoothly curved body shape and well-balanced basswood body fit the body more naturally than it looks, providing comfortable playability.
The pickups are in an HH configuration with neodymium magnets and feature an active circuit with a 4-band equalizer powered by 18 volts. The result is a very manageable sound with a firmness and overwhelming power reminiscent of a Stingray, yet without any unnecessary glare. While it's certainly great for dynamic rock sounds, it's also extremely effective in R&B and funk.
It's no wonder that this is a favorite among professional musicians who support legends, including Dream Theater's John Myung, Dave LaRue (Steve Morse, Vinnie Moore, etc.), and Philip Baino (Steve Vai)!
