Description

This single-cut body, headless model is made by Overload Guitars, based in Rome, Italy.

Overload Guitars was started in Rome in 2012 by luthier and sound engineer Matteo Dondi as "Overload Studio." Initially, they handled music production, rehearsals, and instrument making, but it has now grown into an established instrument brand in the boutique market. From wood processing and painting to assembly and setup, every step of the process is carried out by Matteo himself in his workshop in Rome. This particular instrument is the ACHILLES, a headless style bass guitar with a single-cut body, named after the hero from Greek mythology, and produced by this brand.

The body, with its smooth curves, features a unique original shape designed by the company's representative with meticulous attention to detail and a distinctive sensibility. While boasting a flowing European shape, it is crafted with the musician's perspective in mind, resulting in a well-balanced design that is easy to handle. This particular instrument features a simple ash body. However, to highlight the beautiful outer perimeter cut, only the surface is colored, and a black ink finish is applied along the grain of the wood. This body is paired with a wenge/maple 5-piece neck and a Richlite fingerboard. The neck end extends to just before the front pickup and is firmly joined to the body with six bolts. This instrument employs a multi-scale design, with a 37-inch scale for the low-B string and a 34-inch scale for the high-E string. This provides a well-balanced tension across each string and is also useful for down-tuning.

For the electronics, it features humbucker pickups from "Gorilla Pickups," a handmade pickup brand also based in Italy. These pickups offer excellent sound response and dynamics, delivering a sound that fits any genre or playing style. In terms of appearance, the engraved pickup covers are a distinctive feature. This instrument employs a simple passive design, faithfully and directly outputting the delicate nuances created by the performer. Furthermore, the hardware is also original to the brand. The headless unit, which does not require special strings, features a double-lock headpiece designed to prevent string slippage. The light torque of the tuning knobs also contributes to its user-friendly design.

While this brand is favored by many metal artists, it also possesses the characteristic softness of European instruments, offering not only heavy distortion but also a broad range of tones that aren't confined to that image. As mentioned earlier, due to its individual production and handmade nature, this brand is extremely rare worldwide. Furthermore, our store is currently the only retailer in the Kansai region that carries it. Please come and experience this exquisite masterpiece from Italy, one of the world's leading cities of civilization.
