~~~~~The following is the product description for a new item.~~~~~
The new KG-PRIME, which has undergone further evolution, has finally arrived!
KG-Prime 21 the spirit
The "KG-PRIME," a uniquely shaped guitar that Japan is proud of, was created for Akira Takasaki of LOUDNESS and has been in production for over 30 years since its commercial release in 1988.
The guitar features a sophisticated and unique body shape, a neck joint that is positioned deeper than the front pickup and angled at 3 degrees, and a VU-shaped neck that provides an ideal grip in both the low and high positions—many aspects of its construction have been carefully considered.
This is the metallic matte blue finish that made its debut at LOUDNESS's live performance held at Roppongi EX Theater in December 2020.
Unlike the conventional PRIME series, the body is constructed with an alder top and maple back instead of ash. Alder is a body material that Mr. Takasaki is very familiar with, as it is also used in the red mirror Random Star, and the maple back further tightens the resonance that is characteristic of alder, producing the sharp, edgy sound unique to Killer guitars.
The neck, joined using Killer's unique deep-insert method, features the same VU shape hard maple top, figured maple fingerboard, luminous side position markers, and wheel truss rod as the conventional PRIME series. However, the entire neck, including the fingerboard, is colored with a wood stain, resulting in a more subdued color than the conventional PRIME series. Furthermore, the strings have been changed from the previous medium jumbo (#214H or Jescar #55090) to the jumbo-sized Jescar #57110.
Of course, the pickups are Seymour Duncan THUNDER IN THE EAST, which are Takasaki's signature pickups, and the direct switch that was first introduced in the KG-PRIME Signature 8118 has also been inherited. However, the pickups are mounted using the conventional escutcheon mount method, rather than direct mount.
While uniquely shaped guitars often prioritize aesthetics, resulting in models that are difficult to play while seated or have poor balance, the PRIME series boasts surprisingly high playability and excellent balance despite its aggressive appearance. Its wide range and responsive sound are truly "first-class," as the model name suggests. The fact that it has been in production for over 30 years is the best proof of its quality.
Please pick it up and see its true value for yourself!
