Description

Gibson, one of the world's earliest manufacturers of electric guitar amplifiers, is pleased to announce the release of the FALCON 20 1x12 combo amplifier. This amplifier resurrects the iconic vintage Gibson amp, capturing the tones of the past while incorporating new features to meet the needs of modern guitarists while retaining the magic of vintage amps. Developed with the Gibson Falcon amp of the 1960s in mind, this newly designed amplifier is handcrafted in Petaluma, California, by renowned amplifier pioneer Randall Smith and the MESA/Boogie design team, offering a new level of tone for compact amps. Drawing on Randall's 50 years of experience in tube amplifier design, the newly released FALCON 20 incorporates architectural innovations and tonal enhancements that set it apart from the original Falcon amp.

The FALCON 20 emphasizes ease of use and pure, premium tonal characteristics, emphasizing the simplicity of a single channel. Its simple, pure signal path offers volume and tone controls, plus footswitchable reverb and tremolo. The added dimension and dynamics of the tone dramatically enhance its utility across a wide range of musical styles. Savvy amp players know that one of the keys to great overdriven tone is power amp overdrive, and that using a lower-output amp allows for amplified power amp sound without turning up the volume. The Gibson FALCON 20 1x12 combo is ideal for guitarists seeking a touch-sensitive amp tone at low to medium gain and output levels, while increasing the gain delivers the harmonically rich overdrive sound of vintage power amps. This vintage-infused tone is enhanced by the vintage-inspired character of the 12-inch Jensen Blackbird alnico speaker, perfectly matched to the volume control and Class-A power section. Based on the FALCON20's patented multi-watt, 6V6 power tube, Class A power amplifier architecture, players can select from three power modes: "Full," "Half," and "Low" (12, 5, or 1 watts), or, by switching to 6L6 power tubes, three power modes: 15, 6, or 2 watts. This allows players to experience expressive vintage Gibson tone and feel at three volume levels. Flexible output level adjustment allows for flexible and musical control of output clipping, making the FALCON20 the ideal amp for a variety of environments, from club gigs to home practice sessions and recording studios. While boasting modern sophistication, superior operability, and the versatility of a boutique amplifier, the FALCON20 surpasses even the most highly prized vintage Gibson amps.
