Description
Description
For example, music streaming over a 56k modem.
Or MP3s ripped to CD-R.
Or the mobile phone videos that were popular in 2007.
It captures all the nastiness, messiness, and beauty of heavily destroyed and reconstructed digital audio in a real-time controllable pedal platform.
It's familiar, yet at the same time unlike anything else. Nostalgia exists within you, even if you haven't noticed it yet.
Dial-up connections. ISDN. ADSL. Early YouTube videos. AOL Messenger. MP3 files downloaded from questionable links every night. Napster. Maze screensavers. Beep, beep, beep...
Lossy lets you control every aspect of the sound characteristics inherent in digital compression, anywhere, anytime. The roughness, graininess, packet loss errors, popping artifacts and harmonics typical of the early days of the internet, and Y2K spatial resonance are all in your hands.
It is not a reproduction of any particular format or source. Lossy is an exploration of the possibilities that come from all the sounds that arise from data compression, as well as the atmosphere and ambience that surrounds them. There is everything right and wrong here.
・Loss x3
Explore three loss modes, each with dramatically different textures and responses. Low bitrate digital MP3. Imprecise phasing and timing. Sparkle like sinking into a lake. Feathery floating. A shifting digital sea of clouds. And more, more, more.
Packets
Add unpredictability with the Packet toggle, select Packet Loss to recreate poor connections, or Packet Repeat to recreate glitches and communication errors.
Shaping and smudging
The flexible filter section has a configurable slope, and the reverb section captures the early digital grit favored by '90s electronic musicians. The effect can be positioned pre- or post-effect, softening, enhancing, or diffusing the Lossy effect.
Lossy has a signal freeze function that captures a specific moment and stretches it infinitely. By holding down the FREEZE footswitch, Lossy's unique artifacts are sustained, allowing you to develop your performance while sounding like drones or synth pads.
Plus, there's the all-new Freeze mode, which constantly changes as your input sounds. It can act as a gradually shifting background, a resonant accompaniment, or a sludgy, squishy synthesizer-like sound. Abstract phrases unfold one after the other, following your current input.
All Lossy parameters are also available for freeze tones. Let's discover together the spectral wonders you've never known before.
