Description

Following the introduction of the Mustang electric guitar in 1964, the 30-inch scale Mustang Bass was released in 1966. While positioned as a student model, it gained popularity as a guitar that allowed players to easily enjoy Fender tone thanks to its wood materials and parts that were comparable to those of the regular model.

This time we have a Mustang bass that is believed to have been shipped around 1971. It is in excellent vintage condition.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 100 kg. Like other major models, the finish is "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss." The subtly faded sunburst color is a nice touch. The pickguard has shrunk significantly over time, so we have not removed it. The Thick-Skin finish exhibits weather checking, paint chipping on the elbow contour, dents, body scratches from a belt buckle, and tarnish on the metal parts, giving it the feel of a vintage instrument. There are traces of the finger rest moving on the left side of the fourth string. The bridge mute sponge is missing, as expected.

*We also accept inquiries regarding pickguard replacement, so please feel free to contact us.

【neck】
The neck is small and features a 30-inch scale. The neck is made of maple. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. There is some tarnish on the top coat of the headstock, a few dents on the back of the neck, and some tarnish on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in good condition. The tuners are wound inconsistently but still function well. There is some wear on the frets and nut, but playability is good. The headstock is 16.7mm thick. The nut width is 41.0mm. The neck shape is relatively sturdy.

*Currently, the strings are set at normal string height, but due to aging of the pickguard, the strings may hit the pickup when picking hard. Please note this in advance.

[Electrical system]
The Mustang Bass features simple controls: Master Volume and Master Tone. The Mustang Bass employs a split pickup configuration similar to that of a P-bass, but to reduce hum, the pickups on the 4th-3rd string side and the 2nd-1st string side are phase-out with the same polarity and reverse winding. It doesn't have the underpowered feel typically associated with student models, and its solid output and excellent response are its charms. Simply turn down the volume and tone to find the sound you like.

*Please note that due to extreme shrinkage of the pickguard, the pickup date etc. cannot be confirmed.
