Description
Description
There are no differences in the tonal characteristics, the features of the pedal itself, or even the specifications, but compared to when it was first released in 2002, the current HBOD has a slightly livelier and more taut sound.
The Honey Bee OD Retro is a pedal that recreates the sound of the original HBOD that was released in 2002.
There are plenty of warm, mild overdrive pedals out there, but few sound quite like the HBOD.
It works great in combination with other effects and distorted amplifiers to create a thick, warm overdrive character.
Another major feature is the dynamics, which can be easily adjusted from clean to overdrive with the touch of your hand.
The HBOD is an overdrive pedal that features overwhelming dynamic response, even within a pedal system. With headroom and frequency response reminiscent of an old, small amp, it can produce the tone of a large amp recorded with a small amp. It can also be placed anywhere in a complex pedal system, allowing it to function optimally.
The Drive knob may not seem to have much of an effect on its own, but set it to 12 o'clock and pluck the strings hard to feel the dynamics.
The Nature knob adjusts the frequency range of the distortion. Turning it counterclockwise will increase the lows and low-mids, while turning it clockwise will produce a softer output. Try setting this control around 12 o'clock. Usually, turning it a little further counterclockwise will give you a more balanced guitar sound.
The Vol knob adjusts the volume balance between the effect on and off. Set it to 12 o'clock initially, and then adjust the tone from there.
For example, you can connect the HBOD to a clean amp and vary the picking strength to add clarity and distortion to your tone. Using flat guitar strings will give you a mellow tone, while using round strings will give you a light, old-style distortion.
