Description
Description
The bubinga shell, highly acclaimed for its dark, deep tone and powerful mid-low range, has been molded into an extremely thin shell just 4.5mm thick. A 9mm thick sound focus ring is also fitted to the inside of the shell, improving the shell's vibration efficiency and resulting in rich resonance.
・Shells / STAR Bubinga
The bubinga shell, which was added to the Starclassic series in 2006, has earned high praise worldwide for its distinctive dark, deep tone and powerful, low-mid range sound. The STAR series uses this shell material in a much thinner molded shell than the Starclassic.
Not only the toms, but also the bass drum and snare drum all use thin 4.5mm shells. Furthermore, a 9mm thick sound focus ring is fitted to the inside of the shell, improving the shell's vibration efficiency and achieving rich resonance. The STAR Bubinga shell, which pursues even greater resonance, is characterized by a clear sound with a distinct fundamental tone.
・Bearing Edges
The shape of the bearing edge, where the drum head and shell meet, is a very important factor in accurately transmitting vibrations to the shell when the drum is struck, resulting in a richer sound.
The bearing edge of STAR Drums has a rounder shape than that of conventional TAMA drums, and by positioning the apex of the edge 3.5mm from the outside of the shell, the contact area between the drum head and shell is increased, allowing the drum head's vibrations to be transmitted to the shell more efficiently.
・Snappy Bed
The bottom side of the snare drum has a recessed area called a snare bed, which improves the response of the snare. The shape of this bed is an important factor in determining the snare sound, particularly the sustain and sensitivity of the snare.
STAR Drums' snare drums feature an original shape that differs from the shapes used in traditional TAMA drums. To make better use of the shell's resonance and obtain a clear sound with good note definition, the snare has a large flat surface so that the entire wire contacts the head as evenly as possible.
・Air Hole
The STAR series snare drums have three air holes located in the horizontal center of the shell, which produces a brighter, drier sound than a standard shell with one air hole.
・Newly Designed One-Piece Lug
The newly designed lugs are small and bridge-type, minimizing the contact area with the shell. The smaller lugs not only lighten the weight of the snare drum body, but also allow for an 8-tension design for both the 13 and 14. By reducing the number of parts, the shell's inherent potential is more open and richer in resonance. The result is a delicate and expressive sound that captures even the sage.
・MLS50A Linear-Drive Strainer
This strainer has succeeded in minimizing the noise that occurs when the snare hits the bottom head, even when the lever is moved quickly. The structure ensures that the snare fits securely against the head without putting any extra strain on the shell or strainer.
・Die-Cast Hoops
The highly rigid zinc die-cast hoop keeps the contact surface between the head and hoop perpendicular at all times, allowing for sensitive tuning even with critical tuning. Another major attraction is the powerful sound with a clear fundamental tone.
・Hold Tight Washers
The combination of a stainless steel washer and rubber ring prevents the tuning from loosening during performance. The elasticity of the rubber ring absorbs the impact of the shot, keeping the hoop and tension bolt in constant contact. This prevents the shell from vibrating and causing the tuning to go out of tune.
・Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snappy Snare
The combination of excellent tracking with the snare head, exquisite grip, and crisp resonance delivers a light, crisp sound, while also achieving sensitivity and rich expressiveness that captures even the finest passages.
・Drum Heads
The drum heads are made by REMO.
