Description
Description
Generally, due to their construction, 24-fret basses tend to have a different sound character than vintage-style basses with fewer frets. However, the theme for developing the MJ24 was to create a 24-fret bass with a vintage feel and sound that is characteristic of Momose. In order to expand the tonal range to 24 frets while maintaining the look and sound character of 20- and 21-fret basses, we developed a new body shape from scratch, carefully considering every detail of the design.
A body shape that emphasizes a traditional feel. Rounded chamfers on the body edges give the guitar a traditional feel despite its slim 24-fret design. At the same time, the contours behind the neck joint and the notches on the horn enhance playability on the higher frets, achieving a balance between appearance and playability. The notches on the back of the horn improve playability by not interfering with the movement of the left hand when pressing bass strings in the higher positions.
-Large neck joint with a wide joint area
A typical 24-fret bass often has a small joint area between the body and neck due to the wide cutaway opening, which tends to result in a slightly thinner sound compared to 20- or 21-fret basses. This model uses a "large joint" that widens the joint area, resulting in a moderately thick tone with a character similar to that of a traditional JB-style bass.
- The placement of parts is designed with the aim of "not changing anything." The relative positions of the pickups, control knobs, bridge, and strap pins are set as close as possible to the relative positions of traditional 20-fret and 21-fret basses, allowing even players accustomed to traditional styles to switch smoothly and without any discomfort.
The neck is made of carefully selected, straight-grained hard maple, a precious material for bass necks. It is highly resistant to vertical warping, providing stability that will allow you to play with confidence for many years to come.
- Pickup position: The position of the rear pickup differs between the alder-bodied 604 & 605 and the ash-bodied 704 & 705. On the latter, which has a 70s-style specification, the rear pickup is positioned about 1 cm closer to the bridge, producing a more treble-heavy sound.
・Momose quality with meticulous attention to detail
Like the MJ1-STD in the Momose Original series, this guitar features meticulous attention to detail, including wood binding made from the same wood as the fingerboard and a recessed neck joint plate. Experience the craftsmanship for yourself. The fingerboard is wrapped with binding made from the same wood as the fingerboard, preventing problems like fret burrs caused by drying. The neck plate is recessed to eliminate any unevenness between the body and the neck plate. A counterbore is drilled into the end of the body for truss rod adjustment. The large opening allows for smooth rod adjustment, without the need to remove the neck. The headtop features the "Modern Virtuoso" logo, a new Momose brand innovation. It stands for "modern virtuoso performer and virtuoso."
