TAMA, a world-renowned drum brand from Japan, has combined all the know-how it has gained from years of drum manufacturing to create the new flagship model, STAR DRUMS, which was developed with the concept of "the best drums imaginable today!"

High shell response maximizes shell resonance and responds directly to both powerful strokes and delicate touches.
- Reduces unnecessary resonance and interference between drums, making each drum sound clearer.

Based on these three points, the development was carried out with attention to detail.

In creating the current flagship model, which surpasses the "STAR Classic" series that has served as TAMA's flagship for nearly 20 years since its debut, we have deliberately avoided the customizability found in other companies' flagship models, and have instead created a lineup with specifications that we can confidently recommend, in order to embody the know-how we have gained from many years of drum manufacturing and our thorough pursuit of sound.

[Maple (5mm 5-ply Maple + 1 Outer Ply Curly Maple with 5mm Sound Focus Ring)]
While there are many drums that use equal pressure plies, we have deliberately chosen an unusual design with a thick single ply of 2mm in the center and two plies on the outside and inside for a total of 1.5mm.
The thick core board provides a sound response that can be described as that of a solid piece of wood, while the plywood shell provides a fullness that is unique to it.
The Sound Focus Ring also uses a similar 5-ply structure with a center of 2mm.

The single-ply outer finish is made of curly maple, creating a beautiful, luxurious finish.

[Bearing edge]
The edge of the drum, which is the contact point between the drum head and the drum shell and determines the impression and resonance of the drum's sound, has been moved approximately 1mm inward (3.5mm from the outside, 2.5mm for Star Classic) to achieve a rounded, half-rounded edge. This shape, seen on vintage drums, not only makes the sound fuller and rounder, but also increases the contact area with the head, allowing for better transmission of head vibrations to the shell.

[Snappy Bed]
The bottom side of the snare drum has a hollowed-out area called a snare bed to improve the response of the snare, and the shape of this bed is an important factor in determining the snare sound, particularly the sustain and sensitivity of the snare.
STAR Drum's snare drums use an original shape that differs from the shapes used in traditional TAMA drums. As with the tom-toms and bass drums, the snare drum has a large flat surface, allowing the entire snare wire to contact the head surface as evenly as possible, in order to make better use of the shell's resonance and obtain a clear sound with good note definition.

[Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snappy Snare]
The combination of excellent tracking with the snare head, exquisite grip, and crisp resonance delivers a light, crisp sound, while also achieving sensitivity and rich expressiveness that captures even the finest passages.

[New design one-piece rug]
The newly designed lugs are small and bridge-type, minimizing the contact area with the shell. The smaller lugs not only lighten the weight of the snare drum body, but also allow for an 8-tension design for both the 13 and 14 snare drums. Reducing the number of parts allows for a more open and richer resonance, fully utilizing the shell's inherent potential.

[Air hole]
The STAR series snare drums feature three air holes located horizontally in the center of the shell. Compared to a standard shell with one air hole, this produces a brighter, drier sound. Additionally, the air caps are made of maple instead of metal parts, minimizing the impact on shell vibration.
