Description
Description
The DarkRay was designed in collaboration with Darkglass Electronics, a world-renowned bass effects and amplifier manufacturer, and MUSICMAN, a long-established bass guitar brand. Released by these two leading brands in the modern music scene, this model explores new possibilities for sound.
This model features a modern 2-band EQ preamp designed by Darkglass Electronics exclusively for the DarkRay. The custom-designed preamp features a 2-band treble/bass EQ, plus a 3-way switch for three modes: clean, Alpha (distortion), and Omega (fuzz). This unique preamp incorporates Darkglass' signature distortion into the bass circuitry. Both distortion circuits can be tailored to your preferences with the onboard gain knob and blend control. You can achieve stunning clean, classic distortion, or boomy fuzz tones without sacrificing low end. The three modes are easily controlled with a 3-way lever switch, and the LED ring illuminates to indicate the desired mode.
*3-way switch: Clean (unlit) from the bridge side, α (alpha)/distortion (red lit) in the center position, and Ω (omega)/fuzz (blue lit) from the neck side.
The pickup mode for each position is a parallel humbucker specification, allowing you to enjoy the classic Stingray 5 sound when playing clean and a crisp, distorted sound when playing distortion mode.
This guitar is based on the Stingray Special, a guitar that has become a standard in recent years, featuring neodymium humbucking pickups, a roasted maple neck, a comfort-contoured body, 22 stainless steel frets, and the familiar 4+1 headstock configuration. This model also maintains its core values of well-balanced playability and a sound that matches modern needs. Its high-quality sound, a subtle upgrade from the classic Stingray sound, is particularly enjoyable in clean mode. The dedicated 2-band EQ also provides natural boost/cut without being overly harsh.
The neck plate features a joint plate bearing the Music Man and Dark Glass names. The Stingray's compatibility with distorted sound is well-known, from the rock scene of yesteryear to the loud music scene of today. This is a noteworthy double-brand model from a leading brand. This model remains rare in Japan, so don't miss out!
