Description
Description
This time we have a mini-sized full-acoustic model, the "EP-5," and based on its specifications, we believe it is a unit from the early 1960s.
【body】
The total weight is approximately 1.95 kg. It is a small, full-hollow construction guitar with a body width of approximately 350 mm (approximately 13.8 inches). There are scratches and dents throughout, cracks in the paintwork mainly on the body top, a crack in the cutaway, and some seized screws, which are damages commensurate with its age, giving it the feel of a Japanese vintage guitar.
【neck】
The neck scale is equivalent to a medium scale, and the Ω-shaped truss rod cover is a dummy. The tuners show some inconsistency in their winding, but tuning is not affected. The frets and nut are quite worn and low, resulting in a relatively high string action, but they have been leveled and adjusted by our shop, and playability is good. The nut width is approximately 44.2mm. The neck shape is quite massive, with a solid width and thickness.
[Electrical System]
The controls are simple: one volume and one tone. The pickups are the type commonly seen around this time, with black covers and Teisco plates. The output jack has been replaced. The hollow body's characteristic resonance combined with the cheapness of the Teisco pickups creates a unique atmosphere.
