FAQ

Description

The Skyline V2 builds upon the original design, adding two toggle switches to switch between clipping and mid-push (mid-range emphasis), significantly increasing sonic flexibility. These controls allow for a wide range of tones, from open, transparent low-gain tones with reduced compression to TS-style drive sounds with prominent mid-range and rich saturation.

To make space for two additional toggle switches, we decided to house the V2 in a slightly larger 1590BB-sized enclosure.

Combined with its built-in clean boost, the Skyline V2 produces a wide range of practical sounds. It performs equally well whether used as a permanent tone-shaping pedal or as a more expressive overdrive.

• It is based on Timmy's circuit configuration.
• Carefully Selected High-Quality Parts: It's not just the circuit design that matters. The components used are crucial. We place great importance on the quality of our components and use only the highest quality parts. We use Wima products for capacitors, and in particular, we have installed their top-of-the-line model, the MKP10 (polypropylene film), for the input capacitors. Throughout the circuit, we have also carefully selected and combined capacitors such as the MKP10, FKP2, and MKS4 in the right places. Because superior sound comes from superior parts.
• We do not use any electrolytic capacitors in the audio signal path! Many manufacturers tend to use electrolytic capacitors or inexpensive ceramic capacitors (SMT) to cut costs when the capacitance exceeds 1μF, but we take a different approach. We consistently use only high-quality film capacitors simply because they sound better.

The Skyline's Overdrive section offers a wide range of controls.

Gain, Tone, Level: Standard controls for shaping the overdrive sound.
・LOWS: Adjusts the low-frequency response in the gain/clipping stage.
• HIGHS: Adjusts the high-frequency response of the overdrive section. Turning it to the right increases clarity and adds grit and saturation.
• Clip (3-position toggle switch): Switches the clipping mode of the overdrive stage. Combined with the internal clipping DIP switch, a total of four configurations are available (symmetrical clipping with 2 or 4 diodes, and asymmetrical clipping with 3 or 5 diodes). Additionally, the "open" setting, which does not use diodes, functions as a clean boost mode.
• Mids (3-step toggle switch): Switches the degree of mid-range emphasis of the overdrive in three stages (flat, strong, strongest).

By unscrewing the lid and accessing the internal single-circuit and dual-circuit DIP switches, further tone adjustments become possible, expanding the range of customization options.

• HIGHS: Works in conjunction with the tone knob to change the high-cut parameter of the tone control.
・LOWS: Changes the low-frequency cutoff parameter using the Lows knob on the front panel.
• CLIPPING: Works in conjunction with an external CLIP toggle switch to switch between symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping.

BOOST:
The boost circuit is positioned before the main drive circuit (pre-drive) and can be used independently of the main drive circuit. It is a clean boost based on an op-amp, and its purpose is to amplify the volume while maintaining the characteristics of the original sound, rather than coloring or altering the tone. The BOOST knob allows you to adjust the gain of the boost circuit, providing unity gain (the same volume as the original sound) at the minimum setting and an 18dB boost at the maximum setting. In addition, the front panel has a three-position toggle switch labeled "EQ" that allows you to select from three types of voicing: full-range, low-mid, and high-mid.

BUFFER:
We drew inspiration from the Gravity, which features buffered bypass for both its TS and K circuits. This means that when the pedal is off, the two buffers are connected in series. We really love the buffered tone that you get when the TS's transistor buffer is followed by the K circuit's op-amp buffer.

The new buffer circuit, like the TS, consists of an NPN transistor input buffer with an input impedance of 510k ohms, followed by an op-amp output buffer stage with an output impedance of 100 ohms.

Not all guitarists prefer buffers, and true bypass is sometimes preferred depending on the situation, so we've included a feature that allows you to switch the buffer on or off. This is done via a DIP switch located inside the unit. Furthermore, if the power is interrupted while the unit is set to "buffered bypass," it automatically switches to true bypass, allowing the signal to pass through. This same behavior occurs if the power is cut off while the effect is on.

With its meticulous design and diverse tonal variations, the Skyline promises an unparalleled sonic experience. Unleash your creativity and embark on a journey to explore the possibilities of unmatched overdrive.

parts:
It uses high-quality components such as Vishay metal film resistors, WIMA audio-grade capacitors, Taiway switches, and Pure-Tone jacks.

Dimensions: 119 mm x 94 mm x 34 mm
・Current consumption: 100 mA
- Not battery-powered - Buffered bypass or true bypass

power supply:
• Requires a stabilized DC 9V power supply (standard 2.1mm jack, center negative polarity).
The maximum current consumption is 100mA (+9VDC). Using a power supply with insufficient current capacity may negatively affect performance. Therefore, please ensure that the DC9V power supply you are using can supply 100mA.
We recommend using a high-quality power supply with isolated (independent) outputs. Battery operation is not supported.
