It excels at creating tones by combining the built-in effects with three compact pedals connected to an external loop, providing centralized control of effects systems including MIDI devices and multiple amplifiers, and even functioning as a compact, lightweight, and highly portable standalone multi-effects unit.

■ Carefully selected BOSS effect engines
The MS-3 has 112 built-in effects. It features effects tuned for guitar and bass respectively, organized into six categories: FX1, FX2, Mod1, Mod2, Delay, and Reverb. FX1/FX2 includes overdrive, distortion, compressor, pitch shifter, slow gear, and more, while Mod1/Mod2 includes a wide variety of effects such as chorus, vibrato, tremolo, phaser, and flanger, greatly expanding the possibilities for sound creation.

■ Control function that allows you to centrally manage everything at your feet.
The MS-3 allows you to control your entire system with a robust footswitch. In memory mode, you can switch between patches and banks, while in manual mode, you can turn loops and effects on and off, and even assign parameters for multiple effects, allowing for real-time control with your feet. Furthermore, assignment settings in manual mode can be saved for each patch, so you can instantly recall detailed setups tailored to each song.

■ Effect loop that allows you to incorporate your preferred sound into the system.
The MS-3's three built-in loops allow you to integrate your favorite effects pedals into your system. Pedals connected to the loops can be individually switched on and off from the MS-3, and you can freely position the MS-3's built-in effects before and after external effects. Combine your favorite distortion or booster with the MS-3's built-in effects to create a versatile and personalized sound.

The MS-3 condenses the know-how that BOSS has accumulated from designing countless effects. It features a backlit LCD that allows you to see patches/banks and parameters at a glance, intuitive edit knobs, and indicator LEDs that show the on/off status of all loops and effects at a glance, resulting in a streamlined user interface that allows anyone to quickly achieve their desired sound. Furthermore, it can store up to 200 patches of tones and control settings, allowing you to easily recall and use your favorite settings.

■ Professional-level expandability
The MS-3 offers a wide range of options for expanded control. Various operations are possible using external footswitches, including tap tempo, effect on/off, parameter control, and volume, wah, and pitch shifter control via an external expression pedal. The CTL OUT terminal allows for complex system control at your feet, including switching amplifier channels and controlling compatible external devices. Furthermore, the MIDI OUT terminal allows you to control MIDI-compatible devices by sending master tempo, program change, and control change information. The two output systems can also be freely configured for each patch (stereo/L only/R only), expanding the possibilities for settings using two amplifiers.
