FAQ

Description

Les Paul, the great jazz guitarist who had a profound influence on the history of popular music, especially on the electric guitar and how to play it, was first introduced by Gibson in 1952 as his signature model, the "Les Paul Model." Since then, despite various twists and turns, the Les Paul model has remained a standard in the electric guitar world, loved by guitarists worldwide, with a diverse lineup including vintage reissues and inspired models produced by other companies.

This time we have a regular line 'Les Paul Standard' from 1980. Equipped with the latest specifications of the time, such as a maple neck and new hardware, it was Gibson's flagship model that everyone longed for.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.35 kg. The body is made of maple top and mahogany back. The plain maple top, which shows a subtle grain depending on the angle, is painted in a vibrant cherry sunburst color. There is some weather checking around the neck joint and body binding, small dents on the top, signs of use such as scratches and belt buckle marks on the sides and back, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but considering its age, it is in relatively good condition. The bridge has been replaced with a Nashville style one, just like the original, and the pickup ring screws have also been replaced.

【neck】
The neck is made of 3-piece maple, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. The headstock is the large type common during this period. There are some weather checking at the joints of the materials and on the neck binding, some paint peeling from use on the back of the neck, and a few minor dents, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners function well, with only slight variations in winding tension. The fret height is on the lower side as this period originally featured lower frets, but they have been leveled and adjusted, and there is no excessive wear, resulting in good playability. The nut width is 42.3mm. The neck shape is characterized by being thinner near the lower frets and becoming more robust towards the end.

[Electrical System]
The controls are the classic Les Paul configuration: a 3-way pickup selector, two volume controls, and two tone controls. It features two original humbucker pickups from that era. From the pickups to the controls, everything has been kept in its original condition.

Based on the crisp tone characteristic of a maple neck, the rear (bridge) position offers a bright yet powerful sound, while the front (neck) position delivers a clear and crisp tone that is never muffled. You can enjoy a loud and expansive drive sound.
