Description

This is a used item on consignment from JST Modern that will catch your eye with its striking waterfall burl maple top.

The body back is made of limba wood, also known as "korina." The solid weight of the wood allows the body to firmly absorb the attack response, resulting in a well-balanced sound from each string.
The neck is made of perfluoro wood and the fingerboard is made of Macassar ebony, giving the guitar a high level of rigidity and a lustrous tone. Each wood material is a luxurious option, and if you were to order the same specs today, it would cost around 1.2 million yen. *As of 2025, the Double S inlay is no longer an option, making it difficult to perfectly reproduce.

The 24-fret neck features a slim, easy-fitting Modern Elliptical (.800-.850) profile, and the durable, maintenance-free jumbo stainless steel frets offer exceptional durability. The guitar maintains a rich resonance even in the higher positions, maintaining a consistent tone and providing a well-balanced sound, further showcasing the guitar's overall craftsmanship. The fingerboard features a 10-14R compound radius, typical of cutting-edge Suhr guitars, further enhancing the Modern's exceptional playability.
By selecting jumbo-size stainless steel frets, we have achieved stable condition as well as excellent response and clear touch.

The pickups are in an HSH configuration, with a Thornbucker in the neck position, an ML Standard (now a V63+) single-coil in the middle position, and a Thornbucker Plus humbucker in the bridge position, based on the Thornbucker but with extra power for the bridge position. This low-power combination is JST's most versatile, offering not only rock-inspired drive sounds but also clean and crunch tones. Positions 2 and 4 of the 5-way selector mix the middle pickup and the coil-split humbucker.

The hardware is equipped with Suhr Locking tuning machines and a Wilkinson WVS130 tremolo. The bridge unit was originally a GOTOH 510 but has now been replaced with a Wilkinson WVS130. The two-point support studs/anchors appear to be GOTOH's. The WVS130 is also used in the Pete Thorn Signature guitar and is renowned for its tuning stability, so this is a welcome modification for serious players.

This is a used guitar that appears to have been played quite extensively. Despite the durable stainless steel frets, there is wear around the 5th fret and in the lower positions. There is also rust and signs of playing on the bridge, pickups, and other areas that come into contact with the hands. Fortunately, there are no stuck screws, so it should not be an issue when setting up. In addition to the wear on the frets mentioned above, the abalone inlay for the double S position mark at the 12th fret is partially missing.
Considering how well it has been used, there are few scratches on the body, and other than picking scratches on the surface of the body and buckle marks on the back, there are only a few scuffs and a small dent on the edge of the back of the headstock.
The truss rod, electronics, bridge, and tuning pegs are all working properly. Both strap pins have been replaced with Schaller locking pins.

The clear, powerful sound produced by the carefully selected wood materials, and the ease of playing that you can feel the moment you pick up the instrument, which is unique to Suhr Guitar, which has mastered the intricacies of setup, are truly remarkable! This is a masterpiece that everyone should try out. Don't miss out!
