Description

A definitive reprint of the Sunburst Les Paul research book, which also includes files on the beloved instruments of Jeff Beck, Slash, Joe Perry, and Billy Gibbons!

"The Beauty of the Burst," which first appeared in hardcover in 1996, is a definitive book that files over 80 Gibson Les Pauls made between 1958 and 1960, the most valuable guitars in the vintage guitar market, and provides detailed research into their construction and history.
The English edition was published in 1998, and it gained worldwide acclaim. To this day, it remains the most reliable, first-class reference for the Sunburst Les Paul.
The softcover version was first published in Japan in 1997, but it had been difficult to obtain for a long time. However, calls for a reprint grew online, and it was finally decided to republish it as a "Reprinted Edition," with the content essentially the same as the original.
The publication is in softcover format and comes with an extra-large poster (740 x 500 mm) that was only included in the first edition hardcover version.

The first half of the content begins with '58 and then carefully files sunburst Les Pauls from '59 and '60 with beautiful photographs.
Among them are guitars previously used by Joe Perry, Slash and Jeff Beck.
Also included is the 1959 Pearly Gates, the main guitar used by ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons.
The second half of the book uses scientific context to elucidate the actual nature of the Les Paul, including research into sunburst color variations and their origins, the appearance of figure (grain), the PAF pickups that are essential to any discussion of Les Pauls, and hardware research.
At the end of the book, there are interviews with famous Les Paul collectors, including Billy Gibbons.
This book is a valuable resource that delves into the appeal of the Sunburst Les Paul from various angles, and is highly recommended not only for vintage guitar fans but for all guitarists.
