Description
Description
The S-100 solid-body electric guitar model was first released in 1963 under the model name S-100 Polara. Production of the S-100 was discontinued in the late 1960s, but a redesigned version was released in the 1970s.
This time we have a 1973 solid-body S-100 Standard. It's an easy-to-use model with a mahogany body, mahogany neck, and two humbucking pickups.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.5 kg. The body is made of mahogany. The combination of the natural wood grain and the clear pickguard is both beautiful and reassuring. While there are some dents and scratches overall, as well as some tarnish on the metal parts, the guitar is in relatively good condition. The strap pin has been replaced with a locking type.
【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. The headstock features the familiar "Chesterfield inlay." There are some slight shifting marks on the truss rod cover and dents around the headstock and back of the neck, but considering the age of the guitar, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners have been replaced with Grover 102C tuners, which function well with little variation in winding. The frets and nut have been replaced and, although low, have been filed down and adjusted for good playability. The nut width is 41.7mm. The neck profile is relatively clean.
[Electrical system]
The controls include a 3-way pickup selector, a bridge (rear) pickup phase switch, two volumes, and two tones. The pickups are two of Guild's original large humbuckers. A mini switch allows you to change the bridge pickup phase, allowing you to select either a positive or negative phase mix. The wood construction produces a warm, clear tone.
