◆2023 Martin Factory Tour locally selected and purchased items◆
A Martin Custom Shop model made with figured maple and a rare shape!
This is a masterpiece that was acquired by a staff member from Ikebe Musical Instruments Acoustics who visited the Martin factory to select and purchase it.
The Focktley Visit Tour is a once-a-year tour where we can make selections and purchases, and every year there is a scramble for every model.
Each model is crafted by Martin Custom Shop, a group of Martin's finest craftsmen. Crafted with carefully selected premium materials, the finest techniques and original ideas cultivated over many years of experience, these are one-of-a-kind instruments.
The 0 shape is a shape in which the body size increases as the number of zeros increases, and in Japan, the 000 (triple O) is the standard. This exceptional 0000 (quadro-o) model, acquired from the Martin factory, is the largest shape, and has become even rarer in recent years, thanks to its use of exquisite figured maple. The body top is made of European spruce, while the sides and back are made of big leaf maple with bold, finely figured detail. Both woods are from the custom shop, resulting in extremely dense, top-quality wood.
The neck is also made of maple, with figured wood. The fingerboard is made of black ebony, with hexagonal inlays for the position markers. The neck grip is neither too thin nor too thick, providing just the right amount of grip, and I feel it's designed to allow the wood of the neck to resonate clearly.
While many people believe that models that use a lot of maple have a stiff sound, this model's large body and scalloped forward bracing, along with other internal structures and designs, deliver a rich resonance. The bright maple sound, combined with the powerful bass of the 0000 (quadro) shape, produces a refined sound that's balanced from low to high frequencies. Although the body is large, the unique waistline provides an excellent fit, resulting in excellent tone and playability.
The combination of dynamic, dense grain and the unusual 0000 (quadro) shape creates an atmosphere not found in regular models, making this a truly Martin Custom Shop instrument. This is a recommended model for those looking for a unique and distinctive guitar!
