Description

It is no exaggeration to say that jazz alto music was created by Mayer.
The prototype was a model commonly known as Meyer Bros., developed in the early days when the company had a factory in New York. While the shape of that model is not significantly different from the current Meyer, there are some differences in the details of the baffle, chamber, rails, etc. The "Meyer Bros. NY Model" faithfully reproduces those characteristics.
Jazz fans will know from many photos that the Mayer Bros. guitar used by Cannonball Adderley had a metal ring to repair a cracked shank.
Taking a cue from this, the "Meyer Bros. NY Model" is fitted with a similar ring (brass/unlacquered). This ring strengthens the sound focus and increases the breath capacity. It delivers a level of power that is one step above previous Meyer models.
Also, Meyer Bros. generally did not come with a ligature.
A ligature is included that follows the shape and style of ligatures that were common at the time.

~Connoisseur Series~ Reviving the historical masterpieces beloved by our ancestors

There are legendary mouthpieces that were chosen by superstars like Cannonball Adderley and Sonny Stitt as the perfect partner for expressing their music. However, due to various circumstances, such as the needs of the times and changes in factories, these models have sadly disappeared from history.
It has been faithfully reproduced to its original design and has been revived in modern times.
JJ Babbitt, which has been manufacturing mouthpieces for about half a century, continues to carefully store the many molds passed down from the Meyer brothers and Otto Link, even if they are damaged. The first in the "Connoisseur Series" of high-end mouthpieces has been released, featuring models that are now popular as vintage mouthpieces, created based on the original molds.
While the outer shape of the mouthpiece remains the same as that of each current model, the interior molding uses a mold from the original that was stored at the time. Furthermore, the hardness of the hard rubber used is adjusted by extending the vulcanization time during production. We have also raised our inspection standards, allowing for more time for final finishing and inspection. The Connoisseur series was developed by three talented American jazz musicians: Mike Smith, James Bunte, and Mark Colby, who sadly passed away last year.
The first two models in the "Connoisseur Series" are "Meyer Bros. NY" and "Otto Link Early Babbit."
The legendary performances of jazz giants that remain relevant even after decades have been spun from this mouthpiece.
This will undoubtedly be an exciting model not only for old jazz fans but for many musicians as well.
