A one-knob booster that produces the fat, organic sound that is characteristic of germanium transistors!
GERMANUIM BOOST is a clean booster that uses germanium transistors.
Like the GERMANUIM FUZZ, it controls the voltage applied to the germanium transistor, heating it to the optimum temperature for operation. This requires about 10 seconds for the bias to stabilize after startup, but it produces a stable sound that is not affected by ambient temperature, which is a problem with germanium transistors.
[Sound characteristics]
The input headroom is wide enough to drive the germanium transistors without excessive distortion, even with conventional guitar signals. Also, by increasing the input impedance, the problem of thin sound (loss of low frequencies), which is a weakness of BJT transistors, is solved.
It also has a distinctive musical tone, sounding smoother and more detailed than the original even at unity gain, a unique compression feel that cannot be achieved with a compressor.
Boosting it further will drive the amp and produce a thicker sound with rich harmonics.
It matches not only guitar but also bass, and its thickness of sound and exquisite harmonics are one of a kind.
It also works well with acoustic guitar pickups, producing a warm, natural sound that is close to the acoustic resonance.
