Description

The ES-345TD was released in 1959 as a variation of the Gibson Thinline model ES-335TD. Despite its slightly quirky specifications, such as stereo operation and a unique tone circuit, it remains a popular model loved by guitarists in a wide range of genres, from blues to rock 'n' roll to progressive.

The guitar we have in stock this time is a cherry-colored guitar shipped around 1973 during the mahogany 3-piece neck period.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.8 kg. The body is made of semi-hollow maple. The cherry color has not faded much, but the reddish color is still there, which is nice. There was a gap in the neck joint due to aging, which we repaired thoroughly at our shop. There is some weather checking, slight fading in the cherry color, small dents, and dullness in the gold hardware, but it still retains the wonderful atmosphere of a vintage guitar and is in relatively good condition.

【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. While there is some weather checking and dents around the headstock, the condition is relatively good, just like the body. The tuners function well, although there is some variation in the tightness of the windings. The frets and nut were replaced at our shop, and the guitar boasts outstanding playability. The nut width is 40.0mm. Despite the relatively narrow nut width, the neck shape is characterized by a sturdier construction toward the 12th fret.

[Electrical system]
The controls are the familiar ES-345 series: 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, 2 tone controls, and 6-way varitone control. We've converted the wiring to mono for easier use. The pickups retain the original two stickered T-tops. The bridge pickup cover was removed to swap the polarity when converting to mono. Any other damaged wiring has been replaced. It's great that it retains the ES-345 look while offering the same ease of use as the ES-335. Enjoy the crisp, powerful sound of the old ES.
