The VK synthetic reed is made from a new composite fiber, the result of seven years of research by Vandoren. This new composite fiber does more than simply mimic the structure of cane; it replicates the essential physical properties of cane to achieve the same acoustic properties as a cane reed.

VK Reeds are manufactured using completely new materials and methods that are internationally patented.
VK reeds and their materials are produced in Bormes-les-Mimosas, France, and are 100% recyclable.

There are two types of VK reeds for tenor saxophones: the traditional type "VK1 (7 hardness levels)" and the jazz type "VK7 (6 hardness levels)."

■Durability: VK reeds stay in the same condition as when you bought them for a longer period of time than cane reeds, resulting in better and more consistent performance.
*Since the reeds need to be stored flat, we recommend using a reed case that can be stored on a flat surface.
Easy to Use: VK reeds are ready to use right out of the package. No pre-wetting or pre-settling is required. They are washable with water, alcohol, or mild food-grade detergent.
