Description
Description
The MS736RBK is an Iron Works Studio series microphone stand with a heavy, round base. It takes up roughly half the space of a typical tripod-based microphone stand, making it ideal for use in space-limited environments like home recording. Like other Iron Works models, it features a variety of attractive features to ensure stable microphone positioning, including a telescoping boom arm with a solid rod at the end and a boom angle adjustment mechanism borrowed from drum stand technology.
Heavy Round Cast Base
The base features a heavy, rounded base. The thick, approximately 5kg cast iron base lowers the stand's center of gravity, ensuring stability. The base's diameter is approximately 300mm, allowing it to be set up in roughly half the space of a typical tripod-based microphone stand. The streamlined design around the stand makes it ideal for use in space-limited environments, such as home recording.
The round base and lower pipe are secured to the back of the base with T-bolts, a method that TAMA has used for many years. This not only makes setup and disassembly easy, but also provides greater durability than the typical method of screwing pipes into the base.
Iron-Core Telescoping Boom Arm
The telescopic boom arm, which allows for flexible positioning, also uses TAMA's original mechanism.
First, the tip of the mount is made of a solid rod instead of a pipe, which allows the arm to hold even heavy microphones without bending, ensuring stable fixation and extension even during long-term use.
The counterweight at the rear end is removable, so you can attach or remove it depending on the weight of the microphone you are attaching, or you can reverse the direction of the handle by removing the boom arm and inserting it in the opposite direction.
Vice-Grip Boom Tilter
The boom tilter uses friction between six metal plates to lock the boom angle with a stronger torque than conventional models. Unlike rubber friction plates, however, the tilter's tightness is not affected by wear or temperature changes.
Sure-Cast Adjustment Collar
The design fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and can be secured with light force. A rubber spacer is inserted at the bottom end of the lower pipe to prevent your fingers from getting pinched if the upper pipe suddenly falls when you loosen your grip.
Latch-Lok Sleeve Insert
The height adjustment grip is equipped with a nylon ring-shaped bushing. This bushing expands and contracts when the grip is operated, securing the upper pipe. This bushing fits into a groove on the top end of the lower pipe, so it will not rotate with the grip, preventing accidental operation.
Silent T-Handle
The T-handle, which is operated by hand when adjusting the boom tilt, is the part of a microphone stand that is adjusted most frequently. The TAMA IRON WORKS STUDIO series T-handles feature an internal plastic part that holds the handle rod in place when tightened, preventing noise from being generated in this area.
Detachable Boom Arm
If you remove the boom arm from the upper pipe, it can also be used as a straight stand. When reattaching, be sure to tighten the lock nut firmly and check that there is no wobble.
