Description

Arbiter Fuzz Face replica. Germanium transistor version.

The Baby Face is the ultimate replica of the legendary Arbiter Fuzz Face, a fuzz box used by many guitarists, including Jimi Hendrix. It features a new, pop design, but its sound has been meticulously tuned to deliver the ultimate vintage sound.

To achieve the best sound with a simple circuit configuration, transistors and other components must be hand-selected and repeatedly tested, and only technicians who are thoroughly familiar with the sounds of these classic fuzz pedals can tune them using their own ears. MANLAY SOUND's builder, Roman Gilles, is an accomplished musician and guitarist, and a highly trusted source of taste and knowledge for vintage pedals. Because these manufacturing processes are not suitable for mass production, production is quite limited, and the guitar pedals he makes are always rare.

The Baby Face (Ge) is a reproduction of a rare version of the Fuzz Face that used germanium transistors and was only available for a short time in the mid-to-late 1960s. At the end of the decade, a Fuzz Face using silicon transistors became available. Both versions are excellent, and Manlay Sound offers replicas of both models.

This is a masterpiece of a vintage fuzz pedal that organically conveys the touch of strings, from a sound that can be described as "Scream & Cry" to the clean, psychedelic chords that occur when you turn down the guitar volume a little.

●Baby Face (Ge)
The transistor type is germanium (AC125 type).
It has a great, solid sound that stands out even in an ensemble. I think the high frequencies are more wild (especially the end of the sustain) than the NT275, giving it a more nasty impression.

●Spec
Handmade, point-to-point soldering
Carefully selected NOS germanium transistors, high-quality capacitors, and carbon composite resistors (similar to the original FF).
Alpha Pot True Bypass Switch
DC9V / Center positive

*Due to the nature of the product, sound may stop if the transistor hits the back cover. In this case, try opening the back cover and gently pushing the transistor back into the circuit board, or attaching insulating material to the back cover.
