In early 1984, BOSS released two unusual new devices under the Pocket Series name. One of the Pocket Series devices was the FET-based preamp, the FA-1, which became legendary when U2's The Edge carried it on the recording and tour of Unforgettable Fire. The Clover preamp/booster is a faithful FA-1 profile, but adds new features to enhance the incredible original. No gig is complete without this Clover of Happiness!
The Clover features four standard controls and one rotary switch: the Volume control can be set to unity gain or as a gain booster to give your amp or distortion pedal a boost.
The Clover is the ultimate preamp/booster for all electric/acoustic guitar and bass players. Its simple yet powerful EQ makes it easy to create amazing sounds. The Clover will become an essential tool for any playing style or amplifier. It's excellent as a preamp/booster in combination with a distortion pedal, but it's especially magical when adding natural overdrive to a tube amp. The EQ allows you to precisely tune your amp's natural overdrive. Connect it before a small, low-wattage amp for natural, rich overdrive/distortion, or connect it to a larger, more powerful amp for sounds you've never heard before.
