Description

Hofner sold its first violin in Germany in 1887 and has since grown as a manufacturer, producing orchestral string instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. As the music scene has changed, the company has expanded its lineup to include electric guitars and violin basses, and continues to produce instruments used by world-class artists and beloved around the world.

This time, we have a "Model 176 Deluxe" that appears to have been produced in the mid-1960s. Known as the "Galaxy" in European distribution, Hofner offered a wide variety of guitars at the time.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.3 kg. The slim body features an asymmetrical double cutaway shape and a cool red sunburst finish. There is significant weather checking, scratches, and tarnished parts throughout, giving it the wonderful feel of a vintage instrument.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. The white headtop with the white brand logo is stylish. There are some dents, but like the body, it is in good condition. The round cover and flower-shaped knobs are stylish and rare. There is some bending in the knobs, but they function properly. There is some wear on the low frets, but there is no excessive choking or other issues. The nut width is 44.0mm. The neck shape is relatively solid.

[Electrical system]
Although it's packed with a plethora of switches, they're basically just pickup selectors, volume controls, and tone controls, and each has a simple function. The wide variety of combinations requires some fine-tuning, but once you've found your favorite setup, it's a lot of fun. Enjoy the 1960s European bizarre guitar to your heart's content.
