Description

In 1986, a renowned Japanese music manufacturer introduced the TS10. Like its predecessors, the TS808 and TS9, it shared the typical TS characteristics of selective mid-frequency clipping and significant high-frequency cutoff, resulting in a distinctive "mid-hump." However, compared to earlier models, the TS10 introduced three subtle changes to the audio circuitry, resulting in a slightly more melodic and smoother tone. Opinions about the TS10 vary, with some praising it and others criticizing it, but it remains a favorite of renowned musicians, including the late Stevie Ray Vaughan and current John Mayer. The TS10 is undoubtedly the last, lesser-known, yet honored, TS pedal.
As a tribute to this pedal, which has yet to be officially reissued, we present the JAPAN 1986 Classic Overdrive. It faithfully recreates the original circuitry, adds a true bypass soft switch, and heavy-duty hardware. The exterior is hand-wrapped in genuine Japanese fabric, and is designed, soldered, and completely handmade in Spain.

The TS10 is known for its distinctive midrange character, often described as a "mid hump" (around 722 Hz).
This unique tone is the result of the pedal's selective clipping, which accentuates the mids while suppressing the lows and highs.
This midrange boost is especially popular with guitarists looking for a thick, creamy overdrive to complement melodic lines and solos.
The sound of the TS10 is shaped by three key components that are also used in JAPAN 1986:
JAPAN 1986 Classic Overdrive faithfully recreates the TS10, providing guitarists with vintage soul and expressive tone.
Known for their smooth clipping characteristics, these diodes are essential to producing the warm, musical distortion the TS10 is known for, contributing significantly to the pedal's overall tonal richness and sustain, while providing a dynamic response that enhances the player's expressive potential.
