Description

In 1963, history was made with the release of the Silvertone Twin Twelve amplifier. Originally listed in the Sears catalog as the 1484, the Twin Twelve was available from 1963 to 1967 and became one of the most coveted Silvertone amplifiers. This amp's unique sound proudly contributes to the tones of some of today's greatest rock icons, including Jack White, Dave Grohl, Beck, Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), and Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys).

A faithful reproduction of the legendary Twin Twelve amplifier, the 1484 Twin Twelve pedal can be used as a studio-grade preamp, booster, EQ, or overdrive, depending on the control settings.

"The 1484 Twin Twelve pedal is a part-for-part recreation of the Silvertone Twin Twelve amplifier. The 1484 Twin Twelve pedal is neither inspired by nor a copy of the original; rather, it faithfully recreates the legendary amplifier's circuitry, replacing all vacuum tubes with JFETs. JFETs are a unique type of transistor that behaves very similarly to vacuum tubes. These unique characteristics of JFETs give the 1484 Twin Twelve Pedal the same touch sensitivity and dynamic response as the original amplifier."

To get the most out of the JFET's performance and tone, we built a robust power supply that includes an internal voltage doubler that converts 9V to 18V, significantly improving the JFET's dynamic response and touch sensitivity compared to pedals that run on 9V.
These pedals are individually handcrafted using the highest quality parts, including a polished stainless steel enclosure that mimics the original amplifier's case. Arguably the Silvertone 1484 Amplifier's most iconic visual element, the knobs, were no longer in production, so we crafted them to recreate the classic look, sized appropriately for the pedal's dimensions.
No detail was overlooked in restoring this legendary circuit in its original form, but Jackson Audio didn't stop there: To provide the functionality needed by players of this era, it includes a soft-click true bypass footswitch, preserving bypassed tone without the loud pops that come with switching.

*The Silvertone name is a registered trademark. Jackson Audio's Twin Twelve is not associated with Silvertone in any way.
