Description
A Jazz Bass from the early days of the Custom Shop is now in stock!
This is a Custom Shop Jazz Bass made in 1992, with a body dated 1991 and a neck dated 1992.
The accompanying certificate only states "Jazz Bass," and it appears to be based on the 1962 model, but the body is made of a two-piece ash wood.
Compared to the classic alder/rosewood, the sound image is thicker but clearer, and the highs are a little milder than the 70s specs, making it an all-purpose sound.
The pots appear to be original, but there is no marking on the pickup so we cannot be certain that they are original.
In terms of condition, there are some small dents and scratches on the sides of the fingerboard and body, but it is in relatively good condition considering its age.
The truss rod has ample room within the normal adjustment range, and the neck condition is such that the truss rod has ample room. The frets are worn, but there is no clogging at present, indicating that the guitar has been properly maintained.
