Description

Katzenkonig Katzenkonig combines the Tone Bender MkII, a classic UK fuzz pedal, with the Rat distortion, a classic 80s distortion sound, to create a tight, singing, fuzz-like distortion effect.
It can be used with a variety of settings, including humbuckers, single coils, clean amps, and crunch channels.
The Katzenkonig offers an impressive range of response, from singing tones to tight, harmonically rich crunch and even fuzz mayhem all in one go.
This wide range of sound creation can be easily controlled with just four knobs.

control
The Input control acts like a volume control before the circuit. It attenuates the guitar signal and routes it to the Fuzz section. It also affects the input impedance of the circuit, which is useful when combining with various effects. A matched impedance will result in a higher response.
This is especially effective when using a wah pedal before the Katzenkonig. Many fuzz pedals have low input impedance, which narrows the sweep range of the wah pedal placed before it. Try connecting a wah pedal to the Katzenkonig and adjusting the Input control to see what effect it has. At maximum Input, many wah pedals barely sound like wah, but you can hear the effect by lowering the Input control from there. Set it to where you feel the best response is.

The Gain control is more intuitive to use. Move it up and down until you find the setting that feels right. Also, don't be afraid to turn down the Katzenkonig's Gain. This control is tuned to produce a pleasant sound even at low settings. The Gain control will become more distortion if you move it past 12 o'clock, and more fuzz if you move it lower.

The Filter control is located at the final stage of the circuit, after the fuzz section. It controls the overall tone of the Katzenkonig. This control is an evolution of the Filter control found in the Rat distortion, and turning it clockwise makes the sound darker and creamier. Turning it counterclockwise makes the sound brighter. The sweet spot is generally around 12 o'clock, but try a wider range of settings to find the tone you need.

The volume control allows for a wide range of volume settings, from late-night practice to loud and proud on stage.

The Katzenkonig is powered by a standard center-negative DC adapter or a 9V battery.
The adapter supports a range of DC9V to DC18V.
When powered by batteries, the response to picking is slightly softer.
Increasing the voltage with an adapter will produce a louder, more distinct sound.
Adapter: 9-18V center negative Battery: 9V Battery Current consumption: 6mA
Controls: Volume, Filter, Gain, Input
