"BLACK VEHICLE" covers a wide range of sounds, from natural overdrive sounds like those produced by driving a vacuum tube to distortion sounds!
As part of FREE THE TONE's 15th anniversary project, we launched the "Integrated Series" development project, leveraging the extensive knowledge and experience we have cultivated over the years, as well as our solid technical capabilities and sense, based on the concept of "creating the ideal sound" by selecting and integrating all the elements that make up an effects pedal. The second product in the commemorative "Integrated Series" is a "bass drive pedal."
The BLACK VEHICLE employs a newly developed HTS circuit specifically for bass guitars. The HTS circuit, synonymous with FREE THE TONE products, prevents sound loss, maintains consistent sound texture when the effect is on and off, and outputs the input signal in an optimal state to the subsequent circuit.
The unit also features newly designed EQ and MIX circuits. The TREBLE and BASS EQ circuits only affect the drive sound. The original (dry) sound is mixed with the drive sound in the MIX circuit without being processed. These EQ and MIX circuits minimize signal phase shift, preventing the sound from dwindling even when driven, resulting in a superb drive sound with a sense of pitch and definition.
The boost function has two types: "PRE BOOST", which adjusts the volume sent to the overdrive circuit, and "POST BOOST", which adjusts the output volume.When boosting, you can increase the volume without changing the sound quality, or increase the amount of distortion without changing the volume, allowing you to create a wide range of sounds.
"BLACK VEHICLE" produces a comfortable drive sound with brilliant overtones and long sustain, reminiscent of a driven tube amplifier. It truly delivers an amp-like wide-range sound.

*NEW HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) Circuit: The Integrated Series is equipped with a newly designed HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) circuit. Unlike conventional buffer circuits, this circuit maximizes the sonic characteristics of your bass and amplifier while converting impedance, achieving both excellent sound and low noise.
*FREE THE TONE Custom Knob: We developed a custom FREE THE TONE knob made from machined brass to suppress vibrations in the shafts and wipers of the semi-fixed resistors used in each control, and to suppress harmonic components that adversely affect the sound. The knob's diameter and weight were determined through repeated sound tests to obtain the ideal sound. It produces a clean overdrive with little muddiness, "distorted but not muddy."
*Sound Casing Design: The length, width, height, and thickness of the casing all affect the sound of the overdrive pedal. For the Integrated Series, we carefully calculated all dimensions to determine the case size that best suits the ideal sound. The weight has also been carefully designed to prioritize sound.
*IC Tone Plate: A FREE THE TONE-exclusive metal plate that covers the top of the IC, providing vibration isolation and shielding at the same time. It maximizes the characteristics of the IC while providing shielding to minimize noise contamination.
