Description

"Items exhibited at the Ikebukuro Used Goods Festival"
During the event, our products will be on display and for sale on the first floor of Ikebukuro.

A new interpretation of vintage style, this '68 Telecaster Thinline features a mahogany thinline body and maple fingerboard, with a new old stock finish that enhances playability!

This guitar is based on a 1968 Telecaster Thinline from the era of laminated maple fingerboard necks. It features a mahogany body in the 1967 shape with a Thinline specification, specially selected by the Custom Shop's wood selection specialists. The neck is made of quarter-sawn maple, just like the body, and the fingerboard is made of round-laminated maple with a compound radius of 7.25R - 9.5R. The frets are medium vintage size, narrower and slightly taller.

The body finish is a lacquer top & WLS undercoat finish, which is a polyurethane base with a lacquer topcoat. This model uses a new old stock finish, resulting in a beautiful look with absolutely no signs of wear.

The neck finish uses a burnt-color urethane paint, while the headstock top features a lacquer finish with a slightly darker burnt-color finish. The modern logo is positioned beneath the topcoat.

The neck grip features the 60 Style Oval C shape, commonly used in early 1960s models. It's one of the slimmer grips in the Custom Shop lineup, and its overall thickness makes it comfortable for many to hold.

The hardware originally featured a string-through-body bridge with 3-way steel saddles, but now it has a BIGSBY B5 Fender TL Vibrato Kit mounted on it, and the machine heads are vintage-style F-key tuners.

Fender's Custom Shop guitars stand out from the rest, boasting a clear acoustic sound thanks to their bolt-on construction. When amplified, the sense of airiness and the thickness of the sound are truly on another level. Furthermore, the lacquer top and WLS undercoat finish give them a more resonant and focused tone than a standard lacquer finish.
Its overwhelming natural resonance is so pleasant that you could play it forever without even needing an amplifier, and it offers a level of playability that can only be experienced with a custom shop guitar.

The pickups that reproduce its wonderful tone are '67 Single-Coil Tele (enamel/Neck Alnico 2/Bridge Alnico 5).
It features a glossy, harmonically rich sound, and in mixed tones, it produces a clear, fast tone that makes for a pleasing cutting sound. Overall, it has a crisp tone with a sense of compression, and the drive sound cuts through well. If you shape the sound with crunch or distortion and then turn down the volume, you can also get a thick, crisp sound.

The controls are based on a Modern Telecaster, featuring a master volume with a high-pass filter and a master tone control using a wax paper capacitor, resulting in a straightforward and simple wiring scheme with a slightly modern touch.

This guitar incorporates traditional elements while featuring modern customizations throughout, making it a ready-to-use instrument.

What is the Fender Custom Shop?
Established in 1987, this section employs Fender's top-tier "Master Builders" and a team of skilled craftsmen to create the finest guitars using traditional handcrafting techniques and advanced manufacturing methods, selecting only the most carefully chosen woods from their sourcing.

Inheriting a long history of tradition and techniques, many of the tools used in production are jigs and other items that were used in the 1950s and 60s.
From the one-of-a-kind Masterbuilt Series model to the lineup assembled by dedicated staff at the custom shop, this collection is truly top-of-the-line and of the highest quality.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail by staff who possess a deep understanding of Fender guitars' expertise, these instruments boast exceptional quality and sound that will satisfy any player, making them undoubtedly a reliable companion for a lifetime.
