Description
Cristofori's superb trumpet playing shines through.
Born in Udine, Italy in 1986, he began playing the trumpet at the age of 10. In 2004, he graduated from the J. Tomadini Conservatory in Udine. As principal trumpet, he has performed with major Italian orchestras, including the Orchestra del Teatro di Rome, the Santa Cecilia National Orchestra, the La Fenice Theater Orchestra in Venice, and the Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra in Milan, as well as touring with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra under Christoph Eschenbach. He subsequently studied under members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, he joined the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra as first trumpet, and in 2009, he joined the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra as principal trumpet, where he currently serves as solo trumpet. Since 2016, he has been active as a member of Samurai BRASS, an ensemble made up of some of Japan's top brass players. He is also actively involved in mentoring the next generation of musicians, giving master classes throughout Japan and Italy, and in 2019 he founded the music academy Music System. In 2021, he released the CD Romeo and Juliet under the name Music SytemJapan Brass Ensemble. In 2022, he will perform the inaugural concert of the Music System Japan British Brass Band, and will give the world premiere of his commissioned work, Vivaldi-Corvini: The Four Seasons for Solo Trumpet, at his own recital. He has previously released the solo CDs Inazuma - Fulgor and AZZURRA, both on Nippon Acoustic Records.
The Italian-Argentine trumpeter studied under his father, Alberto Corvini, first trumpeter of the RAI Italian Radio, Television and Light Rhythm Orchestra. Over the years, he has collaborated with renowned artists both in Italy and abroad. For seven years he was co-leader of the PMJO, the resident jazz orchestra of Rome's Parco della Musica. Since 2012, he has also been founder of the New Talents jazz orchestra and the Young art jazz ensemble, two of Italy's most highly acclaimed youth organizations. Since 2015, he has been vice maestro at the Sanremo Music Festival.
