Description

Music Man was founded by Leo Fender after his contract with CBS ended. While the brand itself has changed parent companies, it continues to produce attractive musical instruments.

The Sting Ray series was released in 1976, and the bass version has since become the flagship model, still loved by players around the world today.

This model has an ash body in natural color and a maple neck, similar in materials and construction to Fender's. It has a through-the-back bridge with a mute, and we believe it was manufactured around 1980.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.8 kg. The body is made of ash, and the natural color highlights the beauty of the wood grain. There is weather checking appropriate for the model's age, clear touch-ups on dents, signs of wear on the pickguard, and tarnish on the metal parts, but the guitar is in relatively good condition.

【neck】
The neck and fingerboard are made of one-piece maple. There are dents and signs of use on the back of the neck, some clear coat touch-up, and some tarnish on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners function well, although there is some variation in the tightness of the winding. The frets and nut have been replaced, and playability is excellent. The fingerboard surface has been repainted along with the refret. The nut width is 42.3mm. The neck shape is wide and relatively clean.

[Electrical system]
This bass features an early preamp and includes master volume, treble control, and bass control. The pickups are humbuckers with the large pole pieces typical of Music Man basses. The pickups and other controls remain in their original condition. The pickup response is excellent, the output is solid, and the active controls work well. This is a guitar that lets you fully enjoy the old Stingray sound.
