■A small diaphragm condenser microphone that delivers a new level of natural sound.
Samar Audio Design microphones are artistic microphones handmade by Dr. Mark Hoeksman in his workshop in Salt Lake City, USA.

The MG20 is a small-diaphragm, transformer-output condenser microphone that achieves a new level of natural sound with smooth response and extended low end.

Dr. Hoeksman's meticulous craftsmanship, down to the smallest detail, gives this microphone top-level sound quality and reliability, from the internal electronics to the microphone structure (acoustic circuit).

■A small diaphragm condenser microphone with an innovative "acoustic circuit structure."
The MG20 microphone is a transformer-coupled small-diaphragm condenser microphone featuring extremely low noise, high SPL handling, a most natural sound, smooth response, and extended low end.

The MG20 is a unidirectional microphone, but with a slightly wider pattern than typical unidirectional microphones. The innovative microphone acoustic circuit structure completely eliminates the problem of sound waves coming from the back of the microphone being transmitted to the capsule from the sides, causing resonances and steps in the microphone's frequency curve.

The MG20's microphone shape, optimized for its acoustic circuit structure, creates an acoustic diffusion lens that eliminates all sound wave interference, including off-axis interference. Furthermore, the acoustically open mesh screen eliminates all reflections, ensuring transparent sound and phase integrity.

These advantages result in an extremely smooth and clear top-end response, a richer low-end response, excellent off-axis response and minimal phase distortion.

■KM84 style circuit design and specially developed transformers
At the heart of the MG20 is a perfect microphone capsule operating in a transformer-coupled circuit in the classic Neumann KM84 style, but with modern tweaks for even better performance.

The transformer, custom-built for this model by Dr. Hoeksman, is chamber-wound (the same topology used in Neumann BV8 and other expensive transformers) for incredibly low capacitance and excellent high-frequency response, and assembled with American-made 80% nickel core laminations. As a result, the MG20 has an exceptionally low noise floor and high SPL, providing optimal performance for any studio recording.

Deep, high-quality low end and beautiful top end sound
The MG20 is designed for a wide range of applications, with a deep, rich low end and beautiful top end that makes it ideal for recording a wide range of sounds, including violin, brass instruments, mandolin, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drum overheads, percussion, room mics, orchestras, and choirs. Its high-fidelity, sibilance-free top end and smooth sound also make it ideal for vocals, voiceovers, podcasts, and more. This is an excellent small-diaphragm condenser microphone for a wide range of applications, including recording, broadcasting, and classical music recording.
