Amazing sound that overwhelms you
The BL8 is a half-cardioid boundary microphone featuring the same capsule as the acclaimed sE8 small diaphragm condenser. Its robust construction, integrated low-cut filter, switchable attenuation pad, and voicing switch make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including kick drum, cajon, piano, speech, conference, room miking, and stage floor miking.
Uses the same cardioid capsule as the acclaimed 1/2-inch true condenser sE8
The BL8 features a handcrafted true condenser capsule with an ultra-thin 3 micron gold-deposited diaphragm for superb transient response.
●Robust and ideal for touring The BL8 is built to be robust, with a metal casing and dent-resistant grille making it ideal for touring or busy stage situations.
When used in conjunction with the Kelly Shu Flatz Isolation System (sold separately), the BL8 can be easily and securely mounted inside the kick drum shell, providing excellent isolation while minimizing unwanted vibrations and resonance.
Choose the perfect voicing for live or studio performance: The ideal kick drum tone often differs between studio and live environments. The BL8 features a voicing switch that allows you to choose between "Classic" and "Modern," just like the award-winning V KICK kick drum microphone. These trim and sculpt low-mid frequencies and emphasize transients and punch. Setting the switch to the center position maintains the capsule's neutral response, making it suitable for a variety of other applications.
Pre-attenuation pad and low-cut filter
The BL8 also features a low-cut filter and attenuation pad switch to prevent high-SPL sources from overloading the mixer input. It's also ideal for acoustic piano and ambience/room miking, making it an extremely versatile microphone.
The mounting bracket on the bottom, easily accessible by removing the casing, allows the BL8 to be securely attached to any flat surface, making it the perfect solution for easy installation in music venues, theatres, houses of worship and more.

The BL8 utilizes transformerless Class A circuitry for distortion-free, rich headroom. Its ultra-low-noise electronic components are designed to handle demanding applications like grand piano and room miking, while delivering incredibly accurate low frequencies. While recommended for use with the V KICK, the BL8 also delivers impressive results on its own.
The BL8 is also fully compatible with the sE8 Omni capsule (sold separately), making it suitable for an even wider range of requirements and environments. While the sE8 Omni capsule is not included with the BL8, it is still a great investment for a comprehensive microphone collection.
